Germany 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey
Got my Freely II yesterday!

After 3 months waiting my Freely II has been handed over to me yesterday afternoon:
TD4 HSE, stornoway grey metallic with a few more extras, but not many.
What has impressed me when inspecting my new car is the excellent quality of the paint. The car looks well made, no rattles or squeezes, and the interieur finish is well done. My sincere respect to the Solihull team.
All software updates are made, and I hope that I will be spared from electronic glitches as reported in this fine forum occasionally.
However, one negative remark: any adjustment of the bord-computer can only be made when the engine is running. This does not match with my understanding of ecconomic operation and pollution control.
So I do hope that my new Freely II will be reliable for the next years.

Enjoy your new car.

Possibly the best thing that could have happened to the Freelander 2 is that it isn`t built at Solihull!!
(Based on the reports of when BMW first looked around the Solihull plant after they bought it)

Hi Yamaha-Fan, Your new motor my friend was made in Liverpool at the Halewood plant, previously Ford plant. So if your car could talk it would probably say ' Ey Ey, yoo Geeermans Bombed ar' chippies in the war!'. Which is what my Liverpudlian mother constantly reminds me of - yawn yawn!! As per the comedian Stan Boardman. You better watch your wallet too!! You can take the car out of Liverpool but you cannot take the Liverpudlian out of the car Rolling with laughter

Solihull versus Halewood

Thank you for the advise. So I direct my respect to the Halewood team, which did a good job on my car and hopefully on all other Freely's too.
Carlfraz, I have not objection that the Liverpodlian remains in my car. As long as he behaves.....!

after waiting and watching this very nice forum for two months now, I am being told that most likely, my new car should have entered Iceland yesterday. Then it takes some TEN Big Cry days to cross the shipping line, customs, etc etc etc Censored this is really getting on my nerves. I can't take it anymore Sad

Suspension

Paschal, welcome to this fine forum.
The Freelander II has an outstanding suspension in comparison to its competitors without compromising on the handling. I like your comparison with a boat in the sea, even though it is not so bad.
Most Landy II owners have bought their SUV because of its fine supension. For example, I have changed my BMW X3 due to the very rough (virtually non existent) suspension against the Freelander II. #
If you look into the comparing tests of 4-wheel weeklies ot monthlies, you will observe the loud praise of the very good suspension of the new Freelander.
So enjoy your new Freely II and be embedded in the boatly suspension.

Especially the ranting and raving about it being so good for a vehicle that can truely go offroad.

Although not direct comparison I can safely say that the FL2 is far better than the 2007 models of Toyota Landcruiser + Fortuner, Ford Expedition + Explorer, Nissan Pathfinder and the worst of the worst the Hummer H3 (Underpowered and really does drive like a large ship).....and not only on-road but probably off-road if the reports are to be beleived.

FL2 gets a big Thumbs Up
