When to buy accessories with regards to warranties?

Hi,

Is it true that accessories bought before the new vehicle is signed for by myself, will be covered for the 3 years warranty, as the car is?

Was hoping to add the following accessories, but my dealer (not Lookers!), wants full, non-discounted price for accessories, and I want to shop around, but the extended warranty is appealling.

Ipod module
Quick release Tow bar + 13 pin electrics

Thanks

I think they have to be fitted at the dealer prior to the PDI

The question is will your dealer allow you to give them the parts to fit and whether this will surfice to meet the warranty regs

I think it won't as they will not be on your purchase invoice Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Thanks NPINKS, you might be right, hence why the dealer is not budging on price discounts!

£750 for a tow bar Laughing

It's not even solid gold, for that price!

sorry but why would you worry about the tow pack being covered under warranty??

just fit it for a fraction of the price,, and IF anything goes wrong,, it's never going to cost the difference to fix..

Hi swalker900

I think the position is that if an LR accessory is supplied fitted with the car or within 1 month of the original sale then it is subject to the same 3 year parts/labour guarantee as the vehicle itself. Anything fitted after that only gets the manufacturers warranty applicable to the item which is normally 1 year.

I got my dealer to throw in the supply and fit of the tow bar and electrics as one of the freebies on the deal, and while I am sure you could get a cheaper bar fitted by a specialist, I suspect if you subsequently had any electrical problems some dealers might try to use the non LR kit and fitting as an excuse to avoid a warranty repair.

I also ordered an iPod module which was not fitted when I got the car as I was told they are an after factory dealer fit however the dealer has been trying to get a unit since the start of September and as of last Friday have been told they are on back order and it may be several months before they are available. I think I will just use the AUX socket and a charger.

I presume since it was ordered brand new with HST bodykit it will be on the original invoice, therefore go back and tell the moron to check page 42 of the accessories handbook where it clearly states

All Land Rover Approved Accessories fitted by a Land Rover Dealer within one month or 1,000 miles/1,600 kilometres (which ever occurs first) of the handover of a new vehicle will benefit from the same warranty terms and period of cover as the
vehicle warranty. Accessories purchased outside of these parameters will be subject to 12 month unlimited mileage warranty.
All Land Rover Approved Accessories are rigorously tested to the same exacting standards as those applied to our
vehicles. Performance in extreme hot and cold temperatures, corrosion resistance, impact and airbag deployment highlight some of the exhaustive product testing carried out to ensure accessories are both durable and importantly, continue to

correct integration with the vehicle structure and electrical systems.

I hate Censored companies who either don't know the warranty or just try and get out of work because they can't be bothered Exclamation
