rear seat not clipping down properly, can any of you help?

Hi the single rear seat of my 09 freelander 2 is not clipping down properly. When i push it down it just pops and then pops back out. It is only the single seat not the double one. Wondering if any off you guys have had a simler problem and if so how did you fix it.

Sounds like a stupid question, but is there anything underneath near where it hinges? It doesn't actually clip into anything doesn't the base nor is it spring loaded Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35
