Windscreen issues - 4 years old

Just a heads up for anyone buying a seconfd hand FL2 thats out of warrenty, but LR give you their own 1 year warrenty on 2nd hand cars.

It does NOT cover the windscreen if it is delaminating (several threads on here about delamination).
The windscreen is only covered if the heating element stops working.

Mine is getting worse but they will not honour a claim for it.

Personally I think it's a bit unfair, but hey ho!

Luckily (or unluckily) for me, a stone chip has decided to turn into a nasty crack, so I'm having to get it replaced through my insurance.
Interestig fact I learnt today also, is that beware of after market windscreens as the they are not as good quality as the geuine LR replacements (delaminating issue now sorted).
After speaking to a friend in the industry, you can still insist on a genuine part when the Autoglass or RAC glass man come to replace your windscreen!

Cheers,

Good comments Andyr as it seems that a lot of these windscreens have been badly made. Mine started to delaminate but ive hade it replaced while still in warranty.
Good sound advise for any one buying a second hand unit, could be a good haggle point at the dealers etc Thumbs Up

It's a bit annoying that they didn't honour the waranty. After all, you bought a "LandRover Assured" vehicle. Obviously I don't know your circumstances, but I'd say a name and shame about the stealer is in order here. We Don't Care About Pot Holes !!

I've mentioned them before in a dealer feedback thread.

Conwy Land Rover

It's the worst dealership I've ever dealt with (and I'm in the trade).
The comedy of errors surrounding my after sales is unbelievable (but thats another story).

Cheers,

Andy

P.S Land Rover 2nd hand assured vehicle warranty is actually a 3rd party warranty run by 'car care' (found this out by doing a little digging) BMW 335i Coupe

on the quality side when having a new one fitted

Autoglass tried to say that their 'solarflare' ones where OEM but not stamped with LR brand, my insurance company at the time said i would have to pay an edtional excess to have OEM fitted

So i went with what the Autoglass chap said, when fitted my rearview mirror fell off and they couldnt get it to fit, went back in to the showroom and they chap said he had had the same problems previously.

He couldn't answer my question if they are the same screens just badged differently why are they not fitting?

I got a LR OEM fitted under their guarentee in the end. Smile But that meant 2 fitting, two screens been cut out and twice as much chance of something getting scratched or dented Evil or Very Mad Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
