Most of it is rubbish. but will probably be the incorrect fitment of bulbs that look like Xenon which actually aren't and with good reason. Normal HID will NOT be affected.

Checking if car is remapped via OBD is not possible with universal scanners, it would need manufacturers mapping details. Every manufacturer updates main software to dealer terminals regularly so any 1 model could have many different programmes depending on whether the car has been updated or not at service.

Impossible to check for re-mapping via OBD2 or OBD3. it's just not clever enough. Load of cobblers.

The test to see if chiped isn't made by comparison of the firmware with the original one.

What's wrong with a re-map anyway? It's not against the law is it? I thought an MOT was a test of road worthiness and we all know that a re-map can be good for a cars engine performance...mpg, emissions and all. |

I can understand why they want to include HIDS when incorrectly installed the blind oncoming cars

Remapps for the MOT is a long way off. If it happens at all. It's not possible at present and i can see it being a big can of worms. How it can be illegal i've no idea. Not approved by the VM, yes. I suppose it's only illegal if the vehicle fails emmisions etc. |

Bluefin unit sales will go through the roof if this ever happens, which I seriously doubt that it will in the near future. Blue |

Ok for now though as it is not currently illegal to chip a vehicle - however, not to declare the modification to your insurer (for example) is illegal. Also an MOT is only valid for the condition of the presented vehicle for the day of test too... so 363 days of Bluefin action to follow then! |
