Had a water leak in my FL2 was coming from the top rear hatch area whist driving.
After further investigation using a hose pipe, found it to the the seal from around the top rear hatch brake light. Wasn't anything to do with the rear water jet or hose connection inside it.
After taking the rear fascia piece off without damaging it To check where the water was coming from. I took the light cluster off, cleaned it all up & used some clear silicone. Put it back together. Now seems OK.
Anyone else had similar issue? Landy has now gone.

Yes, I had it on my FL the day after i picked it up MY57.
It took a couple of attempts by the garage to fix it, but has been fine since.

From all accounts, its a common problem on them.
Glad you sorted yours.

Had the same problem on my MY11 GS after the garage repaired a short to the high level rear brake light. Problem was solved by simply removing the lamp housing and fitting a new seal

As I've now siliconed the seal & it's not leaking. Will now leave it alone.
Can you buy a seal from the dealers? Managed to get the rear fascia/trim piece back on. Landy has now gone.

That trim piece is a devil - I've broken no end of clips on mine, and in the end replaced the whole trim with a new item (fortunately it's only £9).

I assume the seal is available - the original problem with mine was created by the dealer who was searching for a poor earth (under warranty) and so the seal was replaced under warranty too when the water ingress started. It was interesting too that my dealer carried the repair out in their bodyshop rather than workshop. But getting back to the seal availability I reckon Dan @ Duckworths is the man to ask!

Think I've been a little unlucky with our landy so far, in the space of 2 weeks. Had to replace fuel filter, due to reduced engine message on dash & went into limp mode. Oiled gear stick linkage, due to squeaky gear stick, water ingress from rear light.
On the positive note. Repaired seal myself, oiled linkage myself. Fuel filter cost me only £42 to replace using Landrover Assist. My local dealers wanted £120 (hours labour), to have a look per item . None of these items would have been covered under their used warranty. Quite happy never to step foot into a dealers again for out of warranty servicing or repaired, as it’s now out of manufacturers warranty Happy to do whatever work I can myself. Take it to an independent for servicing. I will buy parts, independent change them & stamp my book.
If I ever need to take light off again, say to change bulb. Will replace seal then. Silicone is doing the job & you can't see it Waterproof too.

Looks like I have this same issue. Heave rain today coming from behind and left with a puddle on the storage cover! So guessing you have to take of the interior trim off to remove the light cover?

Need to locate a rave with the FL2 workshop manual! Does one exist?

AntG4 - yep, the interior trim at the centre top of the tailgate pulls off- its located by three plastic clips. Make sure you pull it off from the glass side as there are two locating tongues (one at each end) on the door seal side of the trim panel. Is the brake light loose in the tailgate? I ask that as my MY13 XS has just been in the dealers because it too had the same leak problem as my MY11 GS I posted on here back in February this year!
