United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Zermatt Silver
New Member, help with radio/cd please

Hi all i'm new on here and have read through at least 40 pages of old posts, it's easier than reading the manual.
I've never had a land rover b4 but we pick up our 2007 xs model next week. It has one known fault and thats the lcd on the radio is only partly visible. I was told by the garage that a replacement was too expensive.

I saw a full sat nav system for sale on ebay near me, thought it was worth a punt.

http://offer.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll

I don't think i can use the sat nav system but i'm hoping a can swap the front screen. If someone could tell me this is possible and if it's straight forward.

Do i need a pass code? i think my system is the premium with 6 cd system.

Also i want to have the rear tints done, anyone had them done in the Leeds area.

Thanks for the help Thumbs Up

Wait until an ordinary radio unit comes up, and they do from time to time. Whilst the 6 CD version will work in a S or GS, the more advanced Alpine unit won't. Expect to pay between 50 to 150 quid.

As for the tints, 350 quid past post B. Ask any LR dealer, quite a few do this retro for customers.

Try looking at this

http://www.pioneer.co.uk/files/eur/car_acc...ioneer.pdf

Pic 1 could be clearer. You lever up the speaker panel at the edge nearest the screen until it pops off, the move the whole panel forwards towards the screen to unhook it.

Pic 4 means pull firmly towards the gear lever. It also comes out easier if you have drive selected with an auto. Prog rock is cool! Smile

As Marky says quite rightly, pay no more than £200 but never go to a dealer they just get a specialist in and bang £100 onto your invoice to cover the wear on the leather seats in reception and the coffee Evil or Very Mad

The sensible ones will get a reccomended, specialist company in them to get it done. Don't ask the dealer, don't listen to what one says, the dealer cannot do the tints himself, all he will do is get a firm in get the invoice and add 20% on and you end up paying over the top. Thumbs Up

It's easier than the Pioneer pics suggest.
1) The mesh/grill above the nav/cubby needs removing but if it does get your finger nails behind the edge nearest the windsreen and lift up.
2) Pull up the Chrome gear lever surround From the end nearest the handbrake to find 2 screws on the bottom of the facia below the heater dials.
3) Then below the satnav/cubby hole there is a small rubber mat gently lift this mat using a small flat screwdriver and there is another 2 screws under there, remove the facia and the radio screws are either side of the radio itself Thumbs Up

silvermilnec, whilst you're hacking the radio apart, can you see how the LCD and the small text on the buttons are lit?

Not sure what you mean, i can see part of the text on the lcd screen, it's got a small crack on the left hand side, it's hard to see but the lcd behind is affected.

The stereo comes in 2 parts the main unit then the fascia panel is a seperate piece that I presume are changeable
once you have the fascia off, ring a dealer with the part number which will be on a sticker on the reverse Thumbs Up
