I've been to Eastnor a few times, driven a few cars too, disco 3, 4, freelander and RRS. Usually I went myself or with a friend. The free demo sessions are usually split into a bit of road driving then drive round the off road track. Always good fun, just to have a blast in the car and see what it can do.

Hello. Did the Milton Keynes LRE in July. Had a FL2 Auto HSE and did approx 1.5 hours on the road and 1.5 hours off road. I think u can do it all off road if you want but I wanted to do the on-road bit and tbh I would have been bored if I had done more than 1.5 hours on the off-road part. I took my 12 year-old no problem. The off-road course was bone dry but it was still very good and, like others, I was amazed at the angles etc that the FL2 could cope with. Would do it again there but would want winter for the wet / snow next time. Hope that helps. Enjoy. |

Did Milton Keynes recently too. They talk you through the car you choose but since I owned FL2, I asked to just do the off-road bit so he did. There's one section of the course that he couldn't take me on due to ground clearance, and also the rock crawl bit, but otherwise I was amazed at what my car can do. Went up K9 and 'dropped' down quite a few times, you have to put real faith in the car to just let it do its thing

We did the half day at Ashford in Kent courtesy of Land Rover. To be honest there was a lot of road driving and therefore not as much time spent off road as we would have liked

Had a free Land Rover half day "3.5 hours" around Peckforton Castle "Cheshire" back in April. Had the choice of a Freelander 2, Disco 3, or both, but decided on the FL2 due to it being what I was after.

For those of you that say you wouldn't pay for the LRE day, is that because you're already an owner and so didn't get much out of it? Would you recommend it to non-owners who want to know if it's worth spending their hard earned on? Blue |

I have had a few LRE just by registering on LR's website I haven't paid to upgrade these for a full day as half day is great fun, I was already an owner on my first but choice the FL2 to see what it could

Blue, the simple reason is that £175 is a hell of a lot of money to pay for a few hours off road. Nothing to do with what you get out of it. OK, you are paying to potentially bend a car that you don't own. Do as NP advises. Try all the freebie routes first. Failing that, look up some off-road / green-laning clubs in your area. As above really, lot of money for a couple of hours but if you're flush with cash then go for it. I was in the dealer today and noticed official advertising boards stating if you book a test drive you can get a free experience. Phil |
