Experience day ........experience?

After just ordering MY11 last week the dealer yesterday gave me a voucher for a half days LR experience!
Sounds like Fun but wondered if any of you had been on similar and what your experiences were?

Which one did you go to and where?
What did you actually get to drive? Was it tailored around the model you were buying?
How many people could go with you?

Would you do it again?

Apparently my nearest centre is near Milton Keynes.

Thanks for your thoughts!

Went to Milton keynes in January, very muddy, had a great time. You will be amazed at what the Freelander can do, it's the same course as the Disco and RR, all but one small section where the Freelander has not got sufficiient ground c;earance. You will have a great time. I ended up buying a freelander as a result of the experience. The only downside is they use HSE's with all the goodies to temp you, if you are buying a lesser model make sure you know what you are not going to get on the one you buy.

I've been to Eastnor a few times, driven a few cars too, disco 3, 4, freelander and RRS. Usually I went myself or with a friend. The free demo sessions are usually split into a bit of road driving then drive round the off road track. Always good fun, just to have a blast in the car and see what it can do.

Get it booked and enjoy

England 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Galway Green

Hello. Did the Milton Keynes LRE in July. Had a FL2 Auto HSE and did approx 1.5 hours on the road and 1.5 hours off road. I think u can do it all off road if you want but I wanted to do the on-road bit and tbh I would have been bored if I had done more than 1.5 hours on the off-road part. I took my 12 year-old no problem. The off-road course was bone dry but it was still very good and, like others, I was amazed at the angles etc that the FL2 could cope with. Would do it again there but would want winter for the wet / snow next time. Hope that helps. Enjoy.

Did Milton Keynes recently too. They talk you through the car you choose but since I owned FL2, I asked to just do the off-road bit so he did. There's one section of the course that he couldn't take me on due to ground clearance, and also the rock crawl bit, but otherwise I was amazed at what my car can do. Went up K9 and 'dropped' down quite a few times, you have to put real faith in the car to just let it do its thing Very Happy
Also he showed me the DSC system on a grassy bit as I wanted to know if/when/why I would switch it off.

Would do it again but not sure I would pay for it. Phil

United Kingdom 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Stornoway Grey

Just got back from my freeby at the West Country centre (Honiton), this morning.

As I already own my FL2, I spent the time all off-road. As stated, the car was an HSE Auto, but because I have an S, I asked if I could just use command-shift 1st and no Terrain Response. The instructor kindly obliged, so it was just as the S would have performed. Needless to say, no problems with anything we threw at it.

Again, a couple of places were OOB because of ground clearence, but it was very impressive seeing some of the stuff we tackled. The guy behind us in a Disco couldn't believe we weren't using the TR. Thumbs Up

I'd recommend it to anyone, especially if you haven't done any off-road before. We Don't Care About Pot Holes !!

Experience day

Did mine at Skipton great morning out and really did show what a Freelander 2 can do on standard tyres. managed to bag a couple more expriences in a Range Rover and Discovery 4 too.

not much mud to play in but plenty of humps and bumps to get a Freelander 2 on two wheels.

Managed to learn a few tricks too.

if its free its worth doing

We did the half day at Ashford in Kent courtesy of Land Rover. To be honest there was a lot of road driving and therefore not as much time spent off road as we would have liked Big Cry

But hey ho it was a good fun day out enjoyed by all even though it was dry! More fun in the wet I would have thought.

Would I have paid for it? NO it wasn't worth the £175 thats for sure, but yes you do get to see what a freely can really do, although we were wanting steeper climbs Whistle

All depends on the instructer you get on the day aswell I should think Thumbs Up telfire

England 2013 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black

Had a free Land Rover half day "3.5 hours" around Peckforton Castle "Cheshire" back in April. Had the choice of a Freelander 2, Disco 3, or both, but decided on the FL2 due to it being what I was after.
A really enjoyable few hours spent with an instructor who really knew his stuff and even let me loose on a couple of steep hills and descents, after I mentioned the mud and ruts were not exactly taxing!

For those of you that say you wouldn't pay for the LRE day, is that because you're already an owner and so didn't get much out of it? Would you recommend it to non-owners who want to know if it's worth spending their hard earned on? Blue

I have had a few LRE just by registering on LR's website I haven't paid to upgrade these for a full day as half day is great fun, I was already an owner on my first but choice the FL2 to see what it could

Well worth it Blue, try the LR website route first and play the I need a 4x4 to use for offroading and the extra space and see if a dealer throws a freebie yourway, if he thinks your serious you never know Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Blue, the simple reason is that £175 is a hell of a lot of money to pay for a few hours off road. Nothing to do with what you get out of it. OK, you are paying to potentially bend a car that you don't own.

Do as NP advises. Try all the freebie routes first. Failing that, look up some off-road / green-laning clubs in your area. We Don't Care About Pot Holes !!

As above really, lot of money for a couple of hours but if you're flush with cash then go for it. I was in the dealer today and noticed official advertising boards stating if you book a test drive you can get a free experience. Phil
