I am going to be looking at swapping the locks on the new house to anti snap and anti bump one and would mind a view on which brands and performance data

I currently have Garrison on my current house but i have seen CISA Astral S ones too

Hi Nick,

As it happens, the company I work for is the main UK distributor of the Cisa range of locks. We sell all types of security products from locks to chain to Access control systems. I cannot claim to be an expert on all aspects of security but can steer you in the right direction.
If you mail me the sizes of the cylinders I will see what prices I can get the Cisa Astral S for.
Don't worry, staff sale mates rates will apply as they ain't cheap!
Measuring is usually achieved by - Distance from each side of the cylinder to the centre of the lock case, so you could end up with 90mm overall - 40mm inside and 50mm outside

Having said that, Anti snap and Anti bump is really being hyped up at the moment, but instances of break-ins via this method are not being reported by our customers (High Street locksmiths) as that common. "Spreading" of UPVC doors is the next worry and locksmiths have a specialised tool to do this now and these will obviously get into the wrong hands occassionally.
PAS24 is usually sold as a set to qualify for the security standard - 1 pair of handles and a cylinder. Both Cisa and Hoppe can supply these. Again they are not cheap. Have a look at www.hoppe.co.uk and www.security.ingersollrand.com/Products/Ar...tralS.aspx for more info.

DO NOT pay a locksmith to come in and do this - It is really simple to change the cylinder on "Euro profile" locks. Just undo the screw on the edge of the door with the key in the cylinder. Remove the screw and turn the key about 20* and slide the cylinder out. The cam is off set to prevent the cylinder being knocked through with a hammer.

Hope this helps.
Regards,
Dougden[/ FL2 TD4 XS Santorini
