Freelander 2. Been in garage for heater booster to be fitted. Now having probs with 5th gear. When you push gear stick to the right to get 5th there is no stop and you have to search for 5th, often getting 3rd instead?

I Gather you have had the P014 recall done.
The problem you are having is down to the solenoid wire on the gear stick selector housing has not been reconnected,

This solenoid blocks the gear selector gate to reverse when the vehicle is moving so that 5th and 6th gear can easily be selected and to avoid clashing with reverse gear whilst vehicle is in motion.

At present i work for land rover and i am doing approx 6 of these recalls per day, and i know this wire is easy to forget to reconnect.

I suggest that you take the vehicle back to the dealer with a print out of this so they can reconnect the gray connector, this wont take 10mins and they will do it whilst you wait.
