PROBLEMS AFTER THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY

Has anyone had any problems after the LR warranty has finished? Would love to know what, if anything, goes wrong and at what mileages. Stornaway grey SE auto with 18" alloys

yes I would be interested in this info as well as there seems to be quite a few people not happy to hold onto their FL2 beyond the warranty period.

I intend to go to www.warrantywise.co.uk

I got a quote from them when I purchased my car as it is 2 y.o in September and I will keep it until 2014. The cost for 3 years, including failure due to wear and tear is £ 1100.00. It covers all electrical, mechanical and electronic components. (It doesn't cover Air Bag System, Air Conditioning, Alloy Wheels, Catalytic Converter, MOT Failure, Incorrect Fuel, Key & Lock Protection, Multimedia, Tyre Insurance. To included the first 4 and Key and lock protection, the cost is £1384.00 for 3 years.)

I know that it sounds a lot, but £ 39.00 per month to cover just about any eventuality sounds fairly good value.

The condition is that you must have the car serviced in line with the manufacturers recommendations. I am aware that the price will go up with time, they will (no surprise) take payment early so that the cover kicks straight in.

(and no I don't work for them, it looks like a decent policy to me!!) Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

Don't touch Warranty Works with a barge pole!! Bought a 3 year warranty for my daughters VW Touran. Have had 2 failures - Dual mass Flywheel and Turbo. On both occasions Warranty Works turned down the claim due to "in service wear and deterioation" for the flywheel and "suspected damage to turbo caused by EGR valve" for the turbo. I fought the cases through the Financial Ombudsman and they found in my favour each time and I eventually got the full cost of repairs paid. I consider myself lucky. Warranty Works always try to find a reason not to settle a claim. BEWARE!!

What a load of biiiig crap!
The EGR system is way after the turbo and after the turbo the pressure is positive and way much to bigger for any residual exhaust byproducts from EGR to reach back to the turbo!
And more of that, between turbo and EGR system is the intercooler. So no way in hell the EGR could directly affect the turbo!

Many of these aftermarket "warranty" companies are of little use. If you read carefully most are "mechanical breakdown insurance"
When they do accept a claim it is for the failed item only. They will not pay any diagnostic time or additonal parts required to complete job. ie: faulty head gasket, they will not pay oil, filter, antifreeze, cam belt(if removed it can NOT be reused) and will only pay basic book time for labour. If problems arrise due to seized fittings the extra time is not paid.
As a franchised dealer for a major manufacturer we had a warranty rate from them for all work under warranty,
some of these companies offered about 1/3rd of that and expected parts at cost + 5%.
Many garages will not do work for them. They also take months to pay, excuses "please send copy invoice, or statement not received, or invoice received after this months cut off for payment, resubmit next month. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

How do people feel about LR's own extended warranties? (My recently purchased 07 came with a year's warranty from the dealer, and after experiences with the Disco 2 I'm tempted to extend it).
