United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Santorini Black
Freelander 1 Airbag SRS replacement

I know this question is not about Freelander 2 but I know this forum has a huge knowledge and many members have had Freelander 1s in the past. So......

I have a Freelander Commercial (Van) which I have had since new December 2009. It is fitted with just a drivers airbag. Just happened to look in the handbook this morning and it says the Airbag module should be replaced by a Land Rover Dealer after 10 years - anyone had this done? - does it have to be a main dealer? and how much does it costs?

Any clues much appreciated Smile Cheers

I'd be pretty surprised if anyone has had this done. It may depend on how important you think the airbag is - if you wear a seatbelt I doubt if it contributes that much to your safety. What the handbook probably means is that they haven't tested them for any longer than 10 years so aren't sure. I have recently sold a couple of eleven year old cars and no-one asked me whether I'd had the bag replaced.

If the air bag module goes faulty, or needs resetting any suitably experienced engineer/technician with suitable diagnostics equipment can replace/reset the airbag module - been there done it.

The 10 year reccommendation has been extended to 15 years and beyond by some manufacturers, on existing cars. Can't recall if LR was one of them. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her
Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner
