Has any body been on the Skipton one, im having a FL2....... what do they do on the off road driving? are they OK when you turn up in a FL2?

Yep been 4 times Laughing

No problem with what you turn up in, I turned up with a bad case of bed head stinking of beer, and I can't remember who was feel worse me or the LRE boss Ronnie after a wedding he was at the night before Laughing

On road, it a look how it handles, on mine the showed off the DSC stepping in whilst avoiding a pretend nothing in the road

then you drive back, they take you on the obsticle course which is designed to push the car to it's near limits

you drive over to the hill section to show off HDC and other stuff, mine also had it spinning round and round showing the difference the TR control can make

great day out Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

you will have a great time, done mine in ledbury 2 weeks ago,if they push the fl2 to the limits off road you be shocked Shocked what the can do.u most prob drive a auto fl2,i was a bit gutted as i got a manual and would rather drove that, but what a drive in a auto, esp off road.would cons buying auto after this. Current: Freelander 2 GS, Orkney Grey, Factory fit privacy glass, design pack and Clearview pack. I went on the lr experience in Skipton in about May
last year, I went in my FL2 but went out in one of the
FL2 they had ( it was standard but with a after market
sump guard ).

I went with a mate and we went out with a guy with only
one leg !!!

It was a excellent morning, absolutely brilliant and the
staff very friendly.

I would do it again.

United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Rimini Red

Been there twice and suprisingly just won another trip Razz

First time was in a RR sport then in a Defender as i wanted to learn a bit more about diff lock ect for when i take my Disco off road.

This time i have booked a go in a Freelander 2 so i can see how good they are before i risk damaging my own.

Had my Freelander 1's off road god knows how many times but this is a different beast and i would rather damage thers than mine.

Very good half day, learn a lot and the instructors are great. The last one was a WOMAN Shocked Gone S383 ABA Freelander 2.0 XEDI Rioja Red

Comiston Cold LRE (Skipton?) is good but the road test first is not worth the hour - just a selling exercise. Never done it in a FL2 (but turned up in mine both times) always aimed higher and gone for the disco - 3 then 4 this time. I can drive the FL2 whenever I like....

After the two dates it seems to depend on which instructor you get as to how adventourous they will be - last one wouldn't go through the pond as it was too wet (think they called him Charles) but he went up and down the steps a couple of times.

One word of warning - watch out for the unmarked Plod cars on the A65.

Enjoy, listen and you will learn a lot!! Thumbs Up There's always a way forward!

Did LRE at Coniston Cold (Skipton) today in a FL2 HSE Auto - fantastic - even more fantastic that it was one of the 250 prize draws Thumbs Up had the lead instructor Adrian - really knows his stuff. Did the road bit first - more of a tech sales talk - but interesting. Then we did the demo track just past the cabin - water, steps ruts - had the vehicle balanced on 2 wheels Shocked - all this Adrian did. Then we went a bit further down the track onto the client demo area - good fun - the wife managed to get all 4 wheels spinning and the FL2 going sideways - just at the top of one of the tracks Laughing - good fun all round Thumbs Up Cheers

I was rung up by LR and offered a half day at Milton Keynes in a dicso3, arrived and during the intro explained that we were more likley to by a FL2, no problem they swopped the disco for a FL2. I was asked how I wanted to split the drive between off road and on road, went for a 1hr on road and 2 off. They obviously temp you by letting you drive a top of range HSE auto (which is better for the off road bit).
I was amazed at what the FL2 could do. it was exactly the same course as the Disco and RR use (apart from one small bit where the FL2 has not got sufficient ground clearance. We went in January and because of the rain we were up to the axles in mud, but the FL2 just kept going. It raelly does give you confidence as to what can be tackled in a FL2.
We were so impressed we bought one, so this particular freebie worked.

Just been on the half day course this weekend, really great experience! loved the on road speed/full on breaking demo. I went for the fl2 but auto, not keen on the road but could see the benefit off road. great off road course with demo and still a real challange on the course I drove on, the fl2 is top, just wish it would have been a manual so I could have had the exact same car. Some of the things I learnt with the auto were easy but migh be harder with the manual. My wife loved it as well but keept getting a Censored for going too fast!!!!
