Leak?

Dear all,

Tonight I noticed a puddle under the (nearly brand new!) Freelander after my wife had just parked it. There appeared to be a small pool of water (definitely not oil and it didn't have a smell). Looking under the car I could see fluid dripping from near the metal frame pillar near the driver door (in line with the jack point). I couldn't see exactly where the fluid was coming from (pretty much the other side of the frame that I could see) but there appeared to be condensation drops on the body frame. The (unfortunately poor!) attached photos hopefully explain in pictures what I could see (you can see the condensation drops on the car frame). The "leak" hasn't been constant and appeared to have completely stopped within 30 minutes of the engine being turned off with the puddle drying up completely too.

Anyway, I assumed this wasn't normal and Land Rover assist are sending out a technician in the morning.

Does anyone have a view as to what the cause might be? Otherwise, the car has been great (our first Land Rover) so hopefully this has an innocent explanation!

Thanks,

n42

Thanks guys, that pretty much looks like what I saw.

Shouldn't this be in the manual (unless it it and I haven't seen it)? Whistle

Try to see if it leaks with ac turned off then try with on,but can tell you now if fluid is clear ? discharge from evaporator and is normal, will be less in less humid weather more in humid weather, oil will be black (derv) coolant is orange, brake fluid is yellowish and goes milky when water is added (test) and steering fluid is green.
as the evaporator warms frozen condensation drains though the heater box and out through a pipe and is expelled onto the subframe and then the floor.

hope this helps Tone Thumbs Up

Thanks again everyone, it was indeed the run off from the air conditioning vent pipe. Embarassed

I have to say I was very impressed with the Land Rover Assist technician who visited as he was courteous, patient and thorough. It turns out that the run off collects in essentially a drip tray so that if you park on a slight incline (like my driveway) it empties itself to produce a large puddle. Obviously, as it's been very humid recently then this has added to the volume of run off produced.

I've always marvelled at the way my cars have had a little wee when I leave them for a while... Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...
