Stereo's red hot to the touch down drivers side??

When I took the key out of my car tonight it was red hot.On feeling down the right hand side of the stereo it was cooking too.
Is this a stereo or heater problem.
The cars warranty runs out in august so it'll be off back in to see whats the problem.
It was only in 2 months ago when I bought it and they said that it was up to date with all recalls.
Just could've done with some ammo if someone else has come across this before.

Well, when I took it in a couple of months ago I mention that from reading on here, but they said they had done a heater pipe in the engine bay and a system upgrade-mines an i6.
So I'll ring them tomorrow to see what they can sort out.

Been for a ride out today but had the heater on around 16-18 so this seems to keep the temp under control.
Last night we had it all the way round in warm-it was cold at Scarborough!!
What is involved in the heater recall anyway.

It has a preheater to help warm the car electricaly as well as the heat from the engine, the recall was due to condensation causing a possible short which could lead to a fire

not sure if the i6 has it, but best speak to dealer Thumbs Up

Also could be a loose heater vent, if you have had it on hot the warm air could have been leaking and blowing on the panel Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Did you have the stereo particularly loud for a while before noticing this? I'm not sure if the power amplifiers are built into the head unit but if they are, they will get hot with louder levels.
