United Kingdom 2009 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey
HSE Badge on Freelander 2 Auto

Hi

Just joined the forum and just bought a 2009 Freelander 2 2.2TD4 Auto HSE. Colour Stornoway Grey and a really beautiful car with loads of gadgets. Did notice that there was no HSE badge on tailgate and when I asked the main dealer was told that Landrover do not put the badge on the Auto just the Manual. Is this right?? Because it just didn't sound convincing to me! Laughing

Brian

I had a 59 plate courtesy HSE Auto at the beginning of the year with no badges so it may be correct. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

There has been much speculation about missing model badges (all models), the consensus was that there may be a shortage of badges-and they are now fitted willy nilly-but can be fitted by dealers if pressed to do so.

I looked at a brand new HSE model unregistered at a dealer tonight & it had no HSE badge. I knew it was a HSE as it had a description in the window. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

I have a new auto HSE, it comes with all the badges. I heard that LR didn't fit as standard, but couldn't understand why. Shortage oa badges I think, bet quota go to the Range Rover products. 2010MY Freelander 2 HSE Auto

I had to take a look at mine to be sure once I read this post but I can confirm that my 57 plate HSE AUto definately has the HSE badge on it. Simon

Just looked on the option list given to be by a dealer and it has a no cost option of "No derivitive badge". May be some do not want to let other know that they have spec'ed up base model and not an HSE .

Another stupid LR idea then!! You would think they would like to show that many people buy the top spec model - wouldn't you? Bow down (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

There are a few standard configuration like GS, XS, HSE, etc. In my country, for example, E, S, SE, HSE, etc.
When the car is following a standard configuration it has the badge.
In the moment it has an additional option, besides the car's specific configuration, the badge will be missing.
For example, the autobox is by default only on I6 models. On TD4 models the default gearbox, no matter of configuration, is manual. If you want an auto, there is a greater chance that the badge will be missing.
So, standard configurations (GS, XS, HSE) have badges. Standard configurations + options don't have badges.

Thanks Alex,

So there's another conflicting theory-any comment from James at LPR or one of the 'Undercover men'?

I have been looking into this, it looks like that they will come with a badge unless you request the badge deletion option.

But it also looks like LR have been shipping cars to dealers (unsold cars) without the badges to maybe get people used to the idea. I am not so sure to be honest. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........
