Come on Rooleeds, you should 've gone for it! Imagine if you had crossed it, you would make a pleasant and very big thread on the forum. If not, someone would help from this fellow-feeling forum. |

Yeh Rooleeds and imagine the photos on the forum when you got your sorry arse stuck . I have a river in our village which normally goes up to about 400-500mm above road level which I can naviagte wonderfully, but we have the marker gauges at the side of the road to check the depth. I would not dare go for it not knowing the depth.....so as every Landy should know safety first....we dont want to see you on the news as another person swept away, albeit in a Freelander 2 |

Its all well and good having a snorkel, but you'd need axle breathers and to waterproof the electrics. Added to that all the crap that clogs up your radiator, just not worth it. D4 HSE Lux for me

Official wading depth for a Freelander 2 is 500mm or to the top of the wheel. |

Don't metion the crap in the radiator to SWMBO just spent the weekend with the front off the car - it doesn't matter how much water you spay you will never get it clean without a stripdown. Take front sump guard off Take sump tray off Take lamp guards and headlamps off Take the front "bumper / fender" off Take the intercooler off Take the radiator support frame off Undo the supports for the AirCon radiator and swing it out of the way - support as nessesary Then you can flush out the main radiator - and only then from one side. Use lots of soap and warm water if possible - the intercooler is quite deep and difficult to flush through. Drill out broken studs and replace with bolts. Then rebuild I know it still beats shopping around the Trafford Center (local shopping hell hole) but she can spend enough without my help Must remember to put polythene sheet over radiator BEFORE going wading next time. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her Replaced by Ewok what a mistake - now a happy Disco Sport owner |

The reason why the official wading depth is only 500mm, even though you can actually wade to wheel-top height, is that if lightly laden it'll start to float above 500mm. Follow that logic through and I suspect that even a heavily laden freely will start to float if you try going much above wheel-top height. Hence a snorkel would be redundant - maybe better off putting an outboard on the back Brian
