non start / software download / BCU failure

..went in for the heater refit this morning.....and afterwards they tried to update the software.

During the download the starter button would not respond when pushed (a standard part of the procedure). So, now the starter is dead and the keyfob totally stuck in the ignition.

All the usual methods have been tried - eg disconnect the battery, short the leads etc - but it is dead Big Cry

They think the Body Control Unit (BCU) has failed Question

Any ideas Question Question Question

Leave it with the dealer on that one i think

When i had a key replaced due to it suddenly stopping working, i sometimes find that the older key gets jammed a little, but always comes out after a few presses Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

........still in the workshop.....

I expect they will have to order another BCU, since they have absolutely no clue what to do now. And I mean - no clue ! Big Cry

It is completely dead, with the keyfob stuck in the ignition. The stop/start does not function. Big Cry Big Cry

The BCU will take at least 6 days from the UK........... Big Cry Big Cry Big Cry

Is there a UK dealer that might know what to try under these circumstances..........???

There might not be a UK dealer who knows what to do, but Your dealer should be contacting LR Technical Services, the people who should know

To be honest it is a little worrying that the lack of knowledge on something like a key been stuck, especially when the key will be placed into the receiver thousands of times in the cars lifetime Shocked

With my occasional sticky keyfob, i am now pondering on the worst Big Cry Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I am having similar problem.

My FL2 couldn't start occasionally. It will take more than 5 button presses to start the engine.
Or I can remove the key and push it back in then it will fire in first press.
Drop it off to a dealer 27th Jan 09. They said they contacted Land Rover AU and updated FL2's software as recommended. Then the car won't start at all. Now they don't know what to do. Just waiting Land Rover AU to give them more suggestions.

In the mean time, I can drive their old Mazda2 from dealer. Unless they know what parts to order, they can't give me anything from Land Rover AU. What kind of service is that?
My parents and in-laws just arrived from oversea. Big Cry

Got my car back yesterday (after 2 weeks). New computer and new start/stop button from UK. During last 2 weeks, I be driven dealer's Mazda2 and a wagon that Land Rover AU hired for me. So I guess it wasn't too bad service from them. Now I hope my fl2 is really fixed. Only time will tell.. finger cross Neutral

hi guys i think i got one of the first ones to go wrong when the FL2 first was out, i had done some downloads (upgrade service bulletin) whilst the customer waited, any how i had finished and put it in the car park, the customer then went out to it and the ignition wouldn't turn on and the steering lock was stuck on and no engine start, i then phoned LR technical and got put through to engineering. a lr engineer was dispatched immediatly with a new BCu from Gaydon. i was told not to touch it until he arrived, car was fine as soon as BCu was fitted and programmed and they had the car back the same day, thankfully, Richh. they all do that!

Richh

I take it your a LR tech Question

If so what is it that buzzes under the bonnet when you turn off the TD4 engine Question Question

It buzzes and then has a small click when it ends, to me it seems to come from the box attached to the top of the fan behind the radiator Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis
