JLR may not close U.K. plant

I get bulletins most days about what's going on the commercial world and most get filed quickly Whistle
This however, might be of interest.....

''April 19, 2010 Tata Motors Ltd., which currently operates three Jaguar Land Rover assembly plants in the U.K., may cancel plans to close one of the three facilities, reports London’s Sunday Times.

Last September Tata said it would keep its Halewood plant open but close either Castle Bromwich or Solihull. The newspaper, citing unidentified sources, says the company is reconsidering after Jaguar Land Rover’s worldwide sales jumped 43% in March to 23,500 units.

Another reason for the review, suggests The Times, is the arrival of two key executives two months ago. Carl-Peter Forster, former CEO of Adam Opel GmbH, became CEO of Tata Motors in February. In the same month, Ralf Speth, a former executive at Germany’s Linde Group, was named CEO of Jaguar Land Rover.

If Forster and Speth decide to keep all three plants open, Tata likely will ask the U.K. government for financial aid, says The Times''.

United Kingdom

Not good news yet as Carl-Peter Forster has criticised the rumours claiming they were “untrue and serve only to create confusion”. Crying or Very sad

However, as a silver lining, C-PF also goes on to say “As previously stated, we do not envisage any redundancies or reduction in overall West Midlands employment levels.” Neutral
