Any issue with leather wrapped steering wheel?

Anyone have any issues with their leather wrapped steering wheel? On my 2008 LR2, the wheel is ok, but the spot where my left thumb usually rests (right about 9 o'clock at the top spoke) is chronically sticky. I've tried cleaning and conditioning the leather with a variety of products, but the sticky spot returns a few days later. In addition to being a bit sticky, there are also a handful of tiny little silver specs.

Anybody else suffer this affliction? Any ideas?

This is a very well known issue with the Discovery 3, definitely a warranty job. Jeez, I hope it doesn't happen on my FL2, as it did on my Disco3!

Not just a Land Rover problem, same thing happened to the wifes Nissan Micra after 12k miles, couple of months out of warranty - no luck with nissan, Sad none in scrap yards as it seems a common problem. 30% of the wheel now looks corrugated.

Not sure if i have the same problem, not so much sticky, but noticeable wear of the leather on the steering wheel at 12 and 3 o'clock positions (admittedly the same locations i tend to hold the wheel with my right hand, but with only 20k on the clock, i would not expect this level of wear?
Any others got a similar problem? was thinking of taking it to the dealers for them to have a look... Sad 2008 SE, HSE wheels, Black Premium Leather, Privacy Glass, Sports Kit, Side Steps, various LED upgrades and Clear side indicators.

I have a new one too since 5 month (warranty). It was sticky on both sides. The new one has another leather quality and looks much better.

Quick update on this. The car was in today to have the steering wheel replaced under warranty for premature wear and 'sticky' feeling.
For those of you that are interested, this is that the wheel looked like

As Roverland already mentioned, the new wheel is a smooth leather, and looks and feels much better than the original IMO Thumbs Up - same as in the MY10 cars in the showroom - i'll get a picture up when i get chance.

Also got them to replace the locking wheel nuts as there were a few small rust spots.. Thumbs Up

Overall, great service from Beadles in Sidcup.

Cheers
