United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey
Knocking noise under car.

Hi everyone,

This is my first post, been observing only until now. Have a TD4 GS manual in Stonraway Grey. I have done nearly 3000 miles with not a single problem so far, and am very pleased with the car.

Recently I heard a knocking noise whilst driving, which seemed to be coming form under the car/suspension area. This seemed to occur more at slow speeds and even on smooth roads, but happened less as you drove at higher speeds.

I went along to the dealer and told them. They looked at the car there and then as they thought there may be a possible saftey issue and did not want me to drive away in it.

It turned out that a couple of self locking (I presme nylock type) nuts/bolts had become slightly loose on the rear anti roll bar. They tightened them up and I am now awaiting for them to get in some new replacement nuts.

So beware, if you hear a knocking noise, get along to your dealer and tell them you would like your nuts tightended.

Ireland 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 S Manual Stornoway Grey

Hi,

My FL2 TD4 has also developed an annoying and worrying rotational clicking noise coming from the rear. The noise is faster than the rotating wheel so would make me think its to do with driveshaft etc??

It goes away when accelerating and is louder when reversing.

Could this be the same issue?
