Ditto on ad's comments re reception with the 530, it's very rare throughout the UK we can't get a good picture - failing that the sites we go on have a TV booster system next to the electric point......make your self a lead up.
And on the aerial connections agreed, better still redo them yourself. Thumbs Up

Nick, I know this is stating the obvious but I am assuming that you have switched on the vans own booster and tried it at both levels of power as to much power is as bad as not enough. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

I have the freesat box which I use in the caravan. Ok I don't get sky but I don't have it at home so I don't miss it. Big range of channels and get my Local tv station anywhere in the UK and most possibly the world.

I have spent alot of money and tried all sorts of variations to get the best value from my Sky or whatever else when we are away in the van and this is my remedy.

I dont want to worry about whether I will get good terrestial signal on my chosen site so I always use satellite incoming to get a virtually guaranteed reception (trees or buildings nowithstanding).
Freesat from Sky is an OK way of getting the channels but you do lose many of the Sky channels like Gold, Living and the other "lifestyle" offerings including Eurosport which can make relaxed viewing if there is not much else on. You will not of course get either the movies or the sports channels.
Additionally you pay quite a hefty premium for your Sky viewing and it makes no sense to leave it at home doing nothing when you are away.
The remedy to cover all these issues is to take your Sky box with you when you go and unless you have a dual LNB the only thing you lose is the ability to record a channel whilst watching another.
If you think about it it's a no brainer particularly if you fit the puch on adaptors to your aerial connectors to make the box easily removable and refitted.
Hope this helps Ralph

I am seriously considering this, I don't have sports and my movies offer is getting cancelled as I find nothing on it to watch, atleast that I haven't seen already

do you have a link to the connectors your on about?

My plan is to fit the box in the larger cupboard below my tv area, and perminatly run an external connector junction box, so all cables and a 240v socket is there waiting. Just need to figure the best way to get the scart socket out of the cupboard to the TV without cutting a big hole to pass a scary through. Maybe a afternoon on maplins website looking at AV connectors.

If I then decide to have a setup perminatly installed it's all there waiting Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

They look like converters to make the screw on sky type connectors in to aerial style push fits

Idea 1)
Some SCART cables can have the plastic housing removed which could make the hole needed considerably smaller... on some the pins can be pushed out of the connector and re-inserted (with care).... You can get solder SCART connectors as well to 'custom make' your lead.
Idea 2)
Try the TV on RGB and composite video from the sky box.... is the difference significant for use in the 'van? Then you just need three 'phono plug' style leads (yellow video, red&black audio) and scart adapters. (You could even just watch the RF modulated version!

I've found the Status 530 aerial to be pretty good, but by no means infallible... at Grafham Water CC it was useless but the booster system gave perfect DTT... at Top Lodge CC we could only get the BBC mux reliably from Waltham (although analogue 1-4 was acceptable). The Grin Low CC site near Buxton is in an area that has completed switchover and the booster system (if needed now) should provide the main channels to all pitches.

Grin Low was the one I was trying to remember, we were there late summer and had to use the site system but It was not very good as in the end we had to plug the site system into our booster to get a decent picture. It was the only location out of 15 sites we went to last year that we wished we had took the sky set up. p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Nick the problem with using the yellow, white and red thingy is you lose the pulse to the telly which automatically switches over the set to AV.
You have your answer to the push on connectors for converting the F style plugs etc. (sorry was out on the golf course all day yesterday) but the scart cable out of the cupboard was cured on my van by using one of those desk http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trk...Categories
