3 year service contract

When we picked up the new car a couple of weeks ago the salesman asked if I'd be interested in their 3 year service contract. He said the cost could be spread over 31 months at 0% interest and the price would be fixed - no increases. I said that for the right price I may well be interested as I will no doubt do main dealer services for first 3 years, and I had a rough idea of the A and B service costs from other posts on here. Guess how much? £1,495.31 for the first 3 services. It was probably rude to laugh quite as much as I did and I missed the bit when he said he'd knock off 10%, making it £1345.78, or average of £450 a service. He talked to the service manager and knocked off another 10%, I think just to stop me laughing. I still wasn't interested at this price, but the idea is appealing.

Does anyone have a service contract at a realistic price? I'm in South East but prepared to travel around a bit as we often make a day out of it. Possibly visit Kew Gardens if that was near a dealer with the right price Wink

Service contracts are good idea, but not at that price. We had a Mini which was £150 for 5 years/50k miles, a no brainer really. Phil

shopping around,

1st service - 250
2nd service - 320
3rd service - 250

Total 820 - for keeping with the same dealer - 10%, for paying up front - 10% = 650 or should be.

Anyway, name and shame - we could all go round to the dealer, ask about it and have a laugh!

I doubt I will use a main dealer for my services - don't trust any of them! & they are far too expensive. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.

Gotta agree with EV, highly unlikely to use a main dealer for servicing, their prices are a joke. Will be looking for a good independent Land Rover specialist when the time comes.

European Block Exemption ruling allows vehicles to be serviced outwith main dealer and not affect warranty.
Fine but remember in the event of a major claim the main dealer can (and will) want proof that the vehicle has been "serviced exactly to manufacturers schedule using only genuine manufacturers original parts"
This means in our case a Land Rover service schedule with all boxes ticked, VAT invoice from service garage and a copy invoice of garage purchase of Land Rover service parts from a Land Rover Dealer.

Above is worst case scenario.
(I was service manager and warranty administrator for major franchise) now retired. All FL2's (3) Gone
2011 Mercedes C180 CGI Gone
FL2 GS Auto SD with heated leather, factory tints, alloy spare and a few other bits.

I'm on my second Freelander and never had a service done by a Dealer or Landrover Independant. Had lots of warranty work done on my first FL without a problem. Had warranty work done on my current vehicle without a problem. when I traded in my first FL, I got what I wanted for it, no service book stamps. In my opinion the salesman can see if the car has been well looked after. Just my opinion. Very Happy

Always interesting to discuss the pro's and con's of main dealer servicing, but given that thats the route I've decided to go, does anyone have experience of the 3 yr service contract? Does our esteemed site sponsor have any suggestions or offers? Thumbs Up

Yeah, probably trade it in before it gets to 3 years!

I was offered this type of thing from Copley Landrover and it was half that price. After you finished laughing you should have punched him square in the face for trying to steal from you.
