England 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Narvik Black
Been keyed

Got up yesterday and some one the day before had very kindly keyed the rear passenger side wing, deep scratch about 5" long, absolutely gutted!! Minor marring down the side but this has come out with scratch X, no such luck with the wing though. Chipsaway coming next Tuesday to repair, had them a few years ago and was very pleased.

The wife said she was in a bit of a road rage incident at work, not her fault, other woman had a go for parking in spot she thought was hers.......not long after freelander was keyed, she is finding out if it is recorded on CCTV

Here here Carl,
It seems that some people's envy of what someone can achieve with hard work is enough to start this vandalistic procedure. Wish things change sometime in the future, but not very likely. Not everybody makes money selling drugs and guns! Evil or Very Mad

Good luck with the repair TASH...

The other issue here in the UK is the misrepresentation that the media is currently giving 4x4s. If anyone caught the programme with John Sargent the other night - all I can say is, what a load of old b****ks.

4x4s are currently an easy target for the media and have become synonymous with higher CO2 emitting vehicles. Nothing is ever mentioned about sports cars (which pump out more CO2) or people carriers (which are as big - if not bigger). Nor the fact that LR's have a lower 'dust-to-dust' effect on the environment, given their longevity of usage.

I truly hope that this was not a contributing factor to your vandalism, but suspect that it may have played some part. I really hope that you manage to catch whoever did it and bring the full force of the law down on them.

(sorry, I'll put the soap back in the box now!)

BG

You go for it boiledgnat, my wife has a Mini Cooper, best MPG SHE gets is 32mpg...I get 37-40mpg and I believe the WONDERFUL Honda CRV has a USP (unique selling point) that it has a better MPG than the MINI Cooper S......what a loada Censored thats not difficult, as the Cooper S has a shocking MPG, my secretary had one, and she was only getting 21 MPG!!!!!!!, yes TWENTY ONE!!!! Maybe Mr Sargent should do a programme on prorata MPG for small cars since the mini is only a realistic 2 seater....sorry, soapbox over to somebody else now I retire!!!! Evil or Very Mad

Not only that, but your 4x4 is drawn by its nads over the coals for CO2 emissions, yet a heavier, larger, less economical commercial vehicle such as 4x4 pick-up or large van actually can have a tax of £110pa if it meets Euro4. So in efffect a 25mpg pick-up that puts out 260g CO2/km pays less tax than your 37mpg Freelander and is not a target by the Environmentalists.

Having been to Ecuador and seen the 5h1t3 their cars kick out and having worked at Jag for abit on the rolling roads, if we banned every car in the UK it woud be like drinking a mouthful of water from the ocean to stop sea levels rising! Europe, Aus, S.Africa run on 'Euro emissions' USA and Canads run on 'Fed emissions', the middle east still use LEADED and then there is 'rest of world' thats just four and two of them err are not emissions limits. Its just stupidity.

A new Freelander TD4 manual has the same emissions as my Mondeo TDCi auto, less emissions than my Astra turbo and is a damb site cleaner than my Nova, Astra, Cavalier or other cars were. Yet people won't blink if they see an Astra turbo or Mondeo as they're percieved as 'clean' or more like 'unknown to be more dirty'.

Liek you say dust to dust LRs are actually very good, how much energy do they think it tsakes to make batteries and motors for a hybrid? How much dangerous and polluting chemicals do they think are used, processed and expended in the production of a hybrid?

As a kid I watched Running Man and Terminator, etc. the way things are going you can see civilisation going that way. Too many do-gooders watering everyhting down and forcing governments to bring in stricter and more draconian rules to penalise us!

I try and oppose everyhting now as I know it is always wound up by single sided, narrow-minded, mornons who never paint the full picture and always slant everyhting for their own gains.

Cheers H
