Towbar level

Q1: At what level is the top of the towbar at the FL2?
Q2: What's the brand of yours?

I'm wondering whether our caravan will be "sitting on the back" when attached to the FL2. Are there any pictures around of a FL2 with caravan attached?

Thanks in advance,

Rob

Quercus did you have to reprogram the ECU for the detachable one? Just received mine today and wander if I should install it myself or not. And how about the bumper beeing cut, how does it look?

The top of the tow ball on my sits at 46.5cm above the ground. It tows my caravan very well (have now completed about 600 miles (950kms) with the van in tow), the van weighs 1400kg and I tow with 70kg down force on the tow bar; with these weights the car and van sit level and look good.

If you go to the gallery for this site and look under my name 'avtur' you will see I have have posted a picture of the & caravan together.

Hi Avtur,

Thanks for your information. This confirms that height is OK, same as with Superkoalas' towbar. My current VW Passat has got the top of the towbar at approx. 54 cm!!!
I had expected the FL2 to have the towbar positioned at a higher level.

Your car caravan combination looks great!

Q1: How about your fuel consumption?
Q2: Are you having a diesel?
Q3: What max. speed are your driving with your caravan attached, to achieve this fuel consumption?
Q4: What's your milage so far and your recent fuel consumption without the caravan?

Thanks for all this information,

Rob

Hi Rob,

Here are my answers to your questions ...

1 & 4 Fuel consumption at 11,500 miles. The overall consumption is 36.8pmg which includes about 600 miles towing. The towing consumption is 25.1 mpg.

2. Yes it is a diesel

3. In the UK we are restricted to 60mph on the motorway (96kph) and 50mph (80kph) on other roads, I always make good progress within the limits of the law when I am towing!

As I said before the combination is very stable when towing.

Hope this helps,

Paul
