Up to now, i have noticed 4 FL2's in car parks with roof rails, all with the gap at the rear of the rails!!!

I had the same problem originally - about 4mm gap between car roof and left rear cover. The cover itself did not look like it could fit well. See the picture - the part that was supposed to lock the cover in place was not moulded properly. Its "tooth" missed a sharp edge, and the block it sat on was bent inwards slightly.

A replacement cover was shipped to me within 2 days (thanks to Andy@Lookers!), it fits flush now.

Sorry about thread necromancy, but so many people complained about the noise, that I decided to post my findings.

Well, Back into another dealers again tomorrow to get the roof rails checked.

I am not taking it back to the dealers who fitted them as they replaced the rear covers, one did sort of fit flush 'ish'!
The other, just the same gap, stil the annoying whistling noise inbetween 30 and just now over 40!

They advised the only other thing to try was to try silly c**t sealer!!! the covers down! which im not happy about!

Hence try out another dealer to see what they can do...........update tomorrow, hopefully resolved  Anyhoo off oot on me mobike.....

The new dealer didnt really want to touch it, I got the feeling anyway.

They said if its poor fitting then i will be charged for the refit.
If its warranty issue then warranty would cover it.
But he did agree that there should be no gaps on the covers, hence the wind noise/whistling.

And he laughed when i said the wanted to stick them down!

So booked back in for next tuesday with the original dealers......... Anyhoo off oot on me mobike.....

I want to remove my roof rails....Is it easy?

If you remove the roof rails you will need need a new cover strip - I had to cut the original full length one to fit mine. You will also need a threaded stopper to replace the pillars that the rails bolt to. You could possibly remove the pillars, and cut them down, then refit.

Get some double sided tape to stick the cover strip down, as the original will get damaged when you remove it.
The roof rail kit also comes with a plastic lever so you don't damage the paintwork when removing the trim.


Taking them off should take around an hour so long as you have the relevant trim/adhesive. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Crap Why make a roofbar kit that you can't remove without buying new parts. I don't like the way the bars look. Makes the car too high compared to it's lenght.

The roof bars come strait off.
The roof rails don't. Some of us paid a small fortune to get roof bars and rails from the local dealer

Hehe you might be right. Rails probably needs modification on most cars...
