Continental 4x4 Contact or Michelin Latitude Diamaris???

Its crunch time guys and i'm going to have to 2 possible 4 new tyres Big Cry

The two tyres im thinking about are:
Continental 4x4 Contact
Michelin Latitude Diamaris

They appear to be around the same price so im wondering about wear rate, noise, good or bad in the wet....etc.

Does anyone have experience of the Michelin? I have the conti's on at present but have not had them from new so i'm unsure about the wear rate.

Or is there another tyre I should be looking at for approx £150???

Many thanks for any help,

Chris

There's good news coming on the tyre front:
From the 1st November 2012 all tyres sold in the EU will have to carry an "Eco-Label" attached to each tyre sold which will continue to show existing tyre technical data plus efficiency data: rolling resistance (tyre life), wet grip (safety) plus for winter tyres ice/snow grip, and road noise (noise pollution in decibels) all rated from A to G. It is expected that the industry will start to display this data during Q3 2012.

FWIW: Re your current predicament I can only say that I am very happy with Continental Cross Contact 4x4 Winter Tyres that are fitted during the winter months on her Laydship's FL2. They have done approximately 12 to 13k kms over two winter periods and I expect them to last at least another two winter fits. Excellent performers in very low temperatures on ice n snow.

I have changed the tyres to the Diamaris when the old tyres needed replacing and they are superb!

no tyre will beat a Michelin for wear rate, if driven well you can expect in excess of 30,000mls easily from a set.

I've had just over 20k out of a set of conti 4x4 contacts, they seem a decent allrounder and were ok in the snow but I will be going for the new Grabber A/T's soon.

I got 4 Latitude tour tyres a couple of weeks ago as I could not get Diamaris anywhere. ATS could not find a depot anywhere in the country that had 19 inch. I tried other tyre dealers and they all could not get a hold of 19 " Diamaris.
Mitchelin told them that they could not give them a date when they would get them into the country. Good luck.

Very Happy Very Happy

When my OE Goodyear Wranglers wore out at 50000kms (31000miles) I changed to Michelin Latitude TourHP. These are noticeably quieter than the Goodyears and, according to my tyre shop, will last longer. I don't think the Diamaris were available here when I changed, but, since I run on 17" wheels, I think I would have picked the TourHP anyway. They certainly cope off road as well as the Wrangler although, of course, they are not a full off road tyre. This is much the same as my experience on changing Yokohama Geolanders to Michelins on a Subaru H6 Outback.
