Freelander 1 Traction Control Question

Hi Guys,

Sorry I've popped over from Disco3 where I normally live to ask a quick question for a mate of mine who has a Freelander 1. He was saying that during the snow recently he wasn't able to turn off his traction control i.e. the freeland had no option to switch it off. Can anyone confirm this or if it can be let me know how.

I promise to go back to Disco3 and not distrub you again afterwards. Although I am considering a Freeland2 as a friend for my D3, so I might be back. Very Happy

Had a FL1 for 4 years and no not without pulling the fuse although really not sure why you would ever want to do this. However if you keep the revs low the traction control tends not to kick in, one of the tips for getting traction control to kick in was to rev the engine up a bit whilst the wheels were slipping and that would get the traction control interested enough to start doing its thing. About 2500 revs was the magic number.

Turning TC off is useful in the snow and ice, you need a bit of slipage. Thanks for the info guys.

I'll let you know if I get a FL2. It all comes down to economy reallt. The D3 is our "second" car and doesn't do much mileage. I have an X Type that I use on a daily basis and it get's 45mpg so I am looking for something with decent economy as I do a shed load of miles. I appreciate I'm not going to get 35mpg in a FL2 but high 30's would be ok, low 30's isn't going to be ideal.

Similar set up as you Stu, so we've got the Freely as our proper car for 'weekend' and my Golf Bluemotion 70mpg as my mile cruncher. The Golf is nicely put together and solid but not a patch on the Freely Thumbs Up

"Turning TC off is useful in the snow and ice, you need a bit of slipage. Thanks for the info guys." Not found slippage a problem in snow and ice. You cant turn it off on a D3 either and mine didn't seem to struggle very much.
