From where does the noise originate? Front/rear/wheels/left/right. Any chance there may be rocks in the sand being flipped up? |

g'day andy, no theres no stones , the clunking noise is coming from the centre of the vehicle. it feels like its trying to change gears and when it does this clunking comes from underneath the car |

The location would suggest noise from the Haldex unit controlling power distribution to the rear axle. This is controlled in real time by the TR electronics (although hydraulically I think??) and may alter on gear change. If you stick to 1st gear does it happen? Does it happen in other TR modes? Does it happen on tarmac in sand mode? |

i ended up putting it in command shift first gear and turned off the dsc, this stopped the clunking as for trying out the sand mode on the tarmac i will give it a go and see if the clunking is still there |

If the clunking stopped with the DSC off then it sounds like the traction control (which does make a wierd noise). If the DSC light was flashing in conjunction with the noise then I think that's all it is. It can sound like a crunching metallic gear sound.
