Braking efficiency after snow drift

I had to plough through some very deep snow on my track last week - the car did really well, but I then noticed that brake efficiency had decreased (on good tarmac, not snow) and pedal travel had increased by maybe an inch. This actually persisted for a few days but has now more or less resolved back to normal. Anyone had this?
