Gee Land Rover must be going all out on the Freelander 2.
Getting a spread like that costs big money that Land Rover hasn't usually wanted to spend in the past.
With the hype that's being generated I hope this car meets expectations, if it bombs particularly in the US it could be the vehicle that kills the Land Rover name.

Autocar did the same for the D3.

I would imagine that LR only foot some of the bill. Car mag would be doing this as an exercise in raising sales due to the new vehicles level of interest so it would not costs that much.

Its on the front cover of nearly every new car mag looking all bold and brazen.

Cool - I think I need to pick up a copy of Car on my way home!

The mainstream model range is looking pretty strong now with RR, RRS, D3 and FL2.

I wonder how long it will be before we start seeing spyshots of the sub-FL2 model?!

Me and Apple's Newton go back a looooog way! Since the 1993 introduction, actually - and I still use my MP2K now!

I stopped off at three newsagents on my way home and none had the new issue of Car!!

I guess it's down to WH Smiths at lunchtime tomorrow, then!

Ahhh... so you've dabbled in NewtonSrcipt then... Yup the Newton developers implemented some pretty cool stuff. The whole data centric OS and 'soup' were pretty advanced when compared to Dos and Windows 3.x of the time

Developing for the Newton platform was a pleasure - 'twas a sad day when a certain Mr. Jobs pulled the plug on the Newton project. But I guess that's for another time on a different forum


You know - the more I look at this new Freelander, the more I am impressed with the design. I love the way that certain cars look as though they are crafted from a single, solid piece of steel - the FL2 certainly has this look about it; It just looks so much more mature that the original Freelander.

I can't wait to see this car in the metal!

Your right on the Newton thing... never scripted for it but still have my MP2100. Not powered it up for years so probably lost its brain by now. If I could still transfer data back and forth between my Mac and the Newton I would still use it... but alas no serial port and no OS X apps.

And yes the FL2 looks great in the metal. I was lucky enough to see it, touch it, sit in it etc on June 7th at Gaydon

Instantly made the FL1 look frumpy and podgy.

Made the X3 sat behind it look an absolute dogs dinner !!
