LR Assit Have I Just been Unlucky?

I have had an intermittant problem over the last couple of months which when it happens just cuts the engine, dead. It started one day then never did it for a few weeks then again and again tothe point when it went in to be looked at in the space of a mile it cut out half a dozen time.

Took it in on the Wednesday though it was booked in for the Thursday but it had become undrivable. No car for us as you have to give six months notice of you needing one at the local stealer.

Thursday came and went, no car dispite phone calls but the car was "Undergoing Tests".

Friday still undergoing tests, we spoke to LR assist who said we could not get a car from them as the Stealer did not know how long it would be off the road as they could not find the cause of the fault.

Four PM Friday they have found the fault alledgedly, parts are on order will be in Saturday car ready Monday.

Four thirty Friday, no parts LR Assist say we now qualify for a car, we will get one Monday, it seems you cannot get cars on Saturdays and Sundays?

Monday came and went no car, there had been a delay getting some numbers from LR Assist to the Stealer, 5pm Monday car will be with us mid morning Tuesday, the car allocated for us by Enterprise needs new Disc Pads? Strange on a nearly new car?

Lunchtime Tuesday the car allocated now needs new Calipers also, even stranger? Tuesday 5pm car on its way alledgedly.

Yes Nick, I know now I should have just parked it and called LR Assist in the first place, we can all be wise afterwards.

After all this, is this normal with LR Assist p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

This is the norm standard from the dealers around me too !! staff are not trained to min dealer standards as it costs to much and Landrover must just turn a blind eye,or not give a toss that some dealers are costing them sales.
Now just imagine if you had bought a full fat RangeRover at £75,000,and this was the service you got!!!!!

Can we start a list of dealers who give a toss, dont think it would be a long one??

My experience with LR assist have always been good, they collected the broken defender i had at the time from the pay-and-play site, took it to a garage and arranged a hire car within the hour to get me home on a sunday night. They then arranged for a 4x4 to be delivered to me the next day as a replacement for my defender - brilliant service! I appear to be addicted to Landrovers...

TD5 D-Lander hopefully finished soon!
FL2....this year with any luck!

One of my employees has a large Citroen MPV and the wiper motor needs replacing along with loads of others whose motors have burnt out due to ice on w/screen and ....turning on too soon with them stuck to the screen.Citroen have run out of loan vehicles and even hire vehicles due to the number of vehicles <all> that are into body shop for repair due to skidding into something in the ice or snow because they were not driving a 4x4.
They say there is even a shortage of hire cars around due to these factors.Got to laugh next door neighbour Porche owner now has a Ford Fiesta loan car on his drive so the situation must be desperate Rolling with laughter Thumbs Up 2010 HSE Galway Green auto GONE

8.05 we now have a loan vehicle from LR Assist, LR Assist say its covered on their insurance, ok by me. HSE Auto only done 6k both offside doors scraped (Do they let just anyone hire them) Only downside is the colour, thankfully it has not got privacy glass, the neighbours would have thought it was a van. I've found Landrover assist hit and miss. Called them out four times with my car. People on phone lovely, but the time to respond is very slow since AA took over most of their work.

My results so far:

1 x turned up with low loader - I sent them away as was unacceptable.
1 x Yellow AA van - great guy, took air filter etc.. apart and identified fault for the dealer - took nearly 3 hours to get to me - but I was in the middle of the Yorkshire Dales and a lot of roads were flooded.
1 x called out but all they would do was send a low loader to store overnight - so I declined.
1 x LR techician - huge arguement with LRA on a Sunday morning as they told me there was no technican available under the following day an they would send out a low loader to take it off to the dealers. Technican was good.

The fault was diagnosed by me, they never beleived me until they checked it out. Actually, it was the guy from Landrover Experience who told me of where to find the fault!

Given the fault was intermitent, I needed the resonpse quickly.

Never gone down the hire car route. But on each occasion back to the dealers following a LRA callout, dealers NEVER had a courtesy car available. So had to make it back utilising lifts and taxis. The courtesy car waiting list is several weeks long so immediate warranty work isn't their priority.

Not sure what woudl have happened if I'd requested one from LRA. '09 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto

First time we called out LR Assist the FL1 had dumped oil on drive (IRD), technician diagnosed fault, lowloader took me 30 miles to dealer of my choice. Dealer had no couresy cars left so he took me to Enterprise and arranged a hire car - Vaxhall

Second time I called them - rattling from engine (belt tensioner FL1),they called Enterprise rentals out of hours (10pm Friday night) at Liverpool airport, who offered the managers RR. Settled for another Vauxhall, as I had a lot of miles to do in the next few days and I pay for my own fuel.

Both hire cars at LR cost. Prefered dealer (Stockport) always offers Mini's as coutesy cars, god I hate them, but genarally has one in, and they are better than walking.

Twice had to call assist out.
1) During a storm darkest lake district 2am monday morning-gearbox popped, they had to get a independant garage out from 40 mile away took 2 hours to arrive , turned up with a transit flat bed winch not powerfull enough to pull the car up a hill with the wheels locked-same driver had to drive back to depot to change vehicle for a larger one-another 2 hours wait.
2) Sunday afternoon and took AA 2 hours to turn up who said it needs recovering to dealer-waited 3 hours for another independant garage to recover it.
Both times got a Landrover delivered next morning by Enterprise (Disco SE & Freelander HSE)
