And that goes completely against a memo sent out to dealers last year by LR telling them to stop doing remaps as it invalidates the warranty

Eh? Sorry, but you're way off the mark. (no pun intended) It was simply an innocent, friendly post relaying what I though might be some useful info to some on here. I'll stick to driving freight trains for a living as opposed to tuning vehicles, thanks.
Sorry, I had no idea it it was 'against the rules'. |

I thought it was the going rate, myself. The salesman definitely said it wouldn't affect the warranty. To be honest, I'll get it in writing from him before I have it done for obvious reasons.
Was told it was permanent. Sort of. He said there might be the odd occasion where it reverts back to factory standard if the dealer has to do some sort of upgrade within the system for whatever reason, but he'd put it back on free-of-charge - which is fair enough. To be honest, I've had more than my fair share of remaped cars in the past - all without any problems whatsoever, so I've every bit of confidence in the way the whole process works. |

If this is the dealership that is located in a town about 15 miles north of Leicester, then it is not warranty approved. There is not a re-map available that does have LR approval. They will just install the original map before any warranty claim. I am not saying that the re-map is a bad one, as I am sure it is good, but they can't tell you that it is warranty approved. Not quite accurate... It's true that LR will not endorse or allow dealers to remap vehicles, however, doing so DOES NOT void the warranty, if a dealer KNOWS (as in can prove) that a vehicle has been remapped, that vehicle is placed on the restricted warranty register, this means that LR have to approve any warranty claims for any part of the drivetrain. All other warranty claims are unaffected, dependent upon the issue, LR cannot refuse to carry out a warranty repair purely due to it having an engine remap |

Your right in what your saying, Yes, the warranty will only be effected by the parts directly linked to the modification carried out. But I think it was the insinuation that all the warranty will be null and void. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather.
