No, east Texas is a very strange place. It's redneck heaven, it's way too close to the hillbillies in Arkansas and the Cajuns in Louisiana. I thankfully live in west Texas. People have something in West Texas that east Texas lacks, an education past 3rd grade!

My Theory on Texas Intelligence - the further east you are past Interstate 45 (runs between Dallas and Houston) the lower the IQ drops.

I didn't see any Turkey but I think I heard a couple banjos...

HDC - I used it, just covered the brake pedal when I got closer to the bottom. I carry a gun because I can't carry a cop.

It wasn't that bad from inside the vehicle. I've been much more off camber in the Freelander 1. I carry a gun because I can't carry a cop.

Where in Texas?

Every year in April Texas Rovers has their big rally (SCARR - South Central Area Rover Rally), it's usually at the same place from that video but they are thinking of changing it for 2010.

If you can make it out I'd be more than happy to pick you up from DFW (if you come that way) and if I can work it out properly, I might have an extra vehicle you can get behind the wheel of. Time will tell. I carry a gun because I can't carry a cop.

Was staying with my uncle just south of Houston this time, although did include a trip out to New Braunfels and Austin.....and dare I say, a drive over to see some more of my family in Alabama!
Probably won't be back in the States until November next year.

Houston is pretty far from me.

The campground and off road park we went to for Thanksgiving was in East Texas, about 150 miles east of Dallas. I live 330 miles West of Dallas.

How far is it from London to Edinburgh? When I was in the UK in August it took me about eight hours to drive from London to Edinburgh... it was a beautiful drive but didnt' seem that far and took forever!!!

Midland (where I live) to El Paso is 300 miles and it can be done in less than 3 hours and 45 minutes.

If any of you are wanting to make it out for a Land Rover even in April in Texas, let me know and I'll see if I can pick you up from the airport, and if you'll pay for fuel I might be able to let you drive a Land Rover (fuel is much cheaper here than UK/EU). I get mad at people complaing about high fuel prices here and I tell them they shouldn't be complaining compared to Europe. I carry a gun because I can't carry a cop.

In some parts of Texas our speed limit is 80 mph.

The rest of the United States varies from 60-70mph depending on which state.

In Texas, if the population density of the county is less than 10 people per sqaure mile the speed limit is 80. AND I LOVE IT! lol

Most people will go much faster, several people with a radar detector will set their cruise control at around 95mph.

I'm usually going 90 and get passed left and right.

Current diesel price over here in UK is approx £1.10 per litre which equates to just under $7 per US gallon.
Over there it is currently about $2.50 per US gallon or 35p per litre

I remember paying those prices when I was there in August, it Censored me off when people here complain about fuel being high. They have no clue. I carry a gun because I can't carry a cop.
