United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey

I bought one when I bought the D3 from stratstone thought it was a good deal, made claim for non repairable tyre no problem then got screw in different tyre but because I had changed my front tyres they would not replace it as it states only tyres that are covered are the ones on the vehicle when bought so tyre fitter checked all tyres first time round made notes on them all and like I said changed the front pair as they were getting low company would not cover them. Went back to stratstones to complain and got no joy, stated that the tyres when sold had about 4mm tread on and would not last two years (that's how long policy was for) also said that the warranty was void as it states that the minimum tread depth the company will accept when tyre needs repairing/replacing is 4mm. Took it to dealer principle etc but still nothing they said should have read the small print Censored .

Yep should have but would not expect a dealer to rip you off like that, oh and the warranty company in question I found out was warranty direct. Evil or Very Mad

Nothing like that with the policy I bought from kam100, as long as tyre was legal and car in road worth condition etc

But alas they pull out of new policies as people took the Censored and ruined what is a good policy for others

I know there aren't a lot of U.S. owners here (yet) but on this side of the pond, tires bought at Costco will always be replaced for free, even in the event of running over a nail or hitting a curb, or something to that effect.

Even after a certain age/mileage, they'll still reimburse you for a reasonable percentage. It's really a great feature of membership with Costco stores. I bought all of the tires for my previous couple of cars there. The only issue is that you're limited to Michelin, Bridgestone and BF Goodrich tires. I've always purchased Bridgestones and got a lot of miles out of them. I've paid the premium for Michelins before, and honestly, I didn't think they delivered performance commensurate with the price.

I may still be convinced to eschew my Costco allegiance and go for General Grabbers for my LR2, though. Evil or Very Mad Very Happy CAR HISTORY

Tyre insurance was included with my new car deal, covers up to 6 tyres over the 3 year life of the policy.
With the state of the roads and the fact pikeys seem to think they are better without grids and man hole covers it seems a worthwhile investment.

Don't think mines per year, will have a look later tonight. Covers Repairs too but last time I needed one the dealer only charged me £10 for puncture repair so didn't bother claiming.
If you hit a hole in the road, most councils have claims procedures, although more difficult nowadays to claim due to fraudulent misuse by certain groups of people.

i wouldn't have claimed for a tyre repair either, 1 claim lost for a £10 job, or save it for a £222 tyre Wink

My insurance is knowing someone at Goodyear...60% off new tyres (which is handy considering I've had 3 punctures in 12 months Sad

Also if the option is there, I always go for the full size spare. It's essentially a cheap tyre at £150 and you get a proper wheel free Very Happy We now have one repaired puncture, with not a lot of tread in the boot, that's good as a permanent tyre, as well as 2 new on the front and part worn on the rear. Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

I bought tyre insurance for our Mini a few years ago. Was 'thrown in' with the price. When we changed to a Cooper S works with 18" low profile tyres no insurance was offered. That car eats tyres! On my green ovals, I've never bothered. Premiums come in at about the cost of a tyre and a half. In six years (touch wood) I've had one puncture (a screw in the sidewall too - and two days after getting my first RRS!) so I don't think its worth it.

Just damaged the sidewall on my brand new Michelin Sport. Pothole in a layby which due to camber of road I never saw. £350 thank you! I expect laybys aren't covered by council duty of care for highway maintenance, but will submit a clim..... Big Cry

Any type of insurance is a waste of money........until you need it! 2010MY Freelander 2 HSE Auto
