Front offside wing gets warm

I have noticed on my F2 HSE auto TD4 2009 that the front offside wing in between the wing and bonnet gets very warm, doesn't always do it but more often than not, have been back to the dealer but at that time it was normal.

do you have a fuel operated heater? That's where they are located and do tend to get a little warm...

How can you tell if you have the fuel operated heater fitted, cant see anything obvious under the bonnet.

After a resent journey, I walked past my car offside wing and felt a radiating heat too

On closer examination with the bonnet open I think the warmth is coming from the radiator expansion tank

Everything around that area was nice and warm, (but not overly hot)

I presume this is the cause to our findings Thumbs Up Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

The warm front wing is caused by the fuel operated heater, spoke to the dealer recently and he advised that that was the reason

A UK FL2 doesn't have a fuel burning heater Wink

Got no fuel operated heater either and no heat from the UK offside wing grill - However my offside (UK nearside) wing grill, hisses when warm (after a drive) - I have checked and is not irritated Lemmings that are trying to hibernate, so must be quite normal as your warm wing presumably is Thumbs Up 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Can only comment on what the dealer told me, fuel consumption will drop slightly in winter due to the heater and it has, the wing will get very warm and it has, ok in the summer, you will get a slight smell while the heater is running and I do, the vehicle spec as per the dealer shows a fuel heater, will check when it goes for its first service, the only other hint is that it heats up very quickly.

the FL2 has a electric (ceramic?) heater in the dashboard, its why they pulled a fues on early cars to stop it setting on fire until they came up with a fix

As AndyC says they don't have these in snowyland either Confused

Take a picture and we can compare Idea Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Selling in Russia Freelanders have the supplementary heaters Webasto for heating cooling fluid that locates in right wing. It operates under +6 deg (in my eyes) or with remote control.
By the by we have -26 now. It's severe cold!

If Lar could take a photo of the webasto heater too then that would be good too? Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Guys, I have gone in my garage in contempt of a strong frost, made photos and haven't found a webasto.

All appearances one couldn't see it. Working device makes noise here

The diesel auxiliary heater is located in the front right hand side wing above and just behind the wheel arch. It is fully automatic in operation at low ambient temperatures and is powered by the fuel system.

When operating fuel exhausts can be seen exiting in this wheel arch - this is normal. The fuse for this is located in the engine compartment fuse box F32 20Amp Yellow. Fitted to FL2's that operate in predominately very cold climes - Russia/Alaska/Canada and other markets when requested.

That is how I understood it from my LR dealer.

Fitted to a UK market FL2 - highly improbable, but who knows what's been fitted where..........
