Front Parking Sensor Operation

I am wondering if my front sensors are working correctly.
They do not appear to operate if I drive slowly forward into a parking bay, but do beep as soon as I select reverse.
It would make logical sense to tell you that you are getting close to the wall given the size of the bonnet
Any help or advise would be welcome :-)

Parking sensors only work when switched on. You switch them on by either selecting reverse or flicking the switch on the dash (light will come on). Switch them off again by driving above a certain speed or using the switch. There is a short delay before you hear a long beep to show that they are working.
The salesman (Main Dealer) who sold me the car didn't understand this though!

turn them on on the dash press the button the red light will illuminate, they only work when switched on manually or if you have recently been in reverse. otherwise they would go off in traffic jams etc etc.

also front beeps come out of the front speakers, rear beeps out of the rear speakers At work

If I may chime in with a question;

Did LR quit installing front sensors on newer vehicles, or did they just decide to leave them off of the vehicles sent to the United States?

Anyone have a photo of where the switch is to turn on the front sensors?

Thanks in advance, and I hope you don't mind me riding on the shirt tails of your question.
