Reduced MPG

I recently had the 45k service done and since I have had it back, the ave. fuel consumption seems to have reduced by 4 MPG.
I have been doing the same journeys, mixture of town and motorway and from a very pleasing 36ish I am now below 32.5 Crying or Very sad

Aircon is not a feature of this as I hardly use it.

Any thoughts as to what, if anything, the dealer could have done? FL2 TD4 XS Santorini

Sounds like they flashed your ECU firmware with an 'update'. Same happened to me when they cured a tickover dipping issue. I lost 4-5mpg so I got them to flash it with a different revision and I got my best economy yet.

Interesting - just had 2nd service done and have noticed exactly the same - can't get above 35 on long run - previously saw 38 - 39 on same journey.

Back to dealer then

The MPG on a diesel engine will reduce when it has been serviced. It has something to do with fresh oil being added after the engine has been flushed. If you want good MPG then don't change your oil......

It will go up again after a couple of thousand miles and the new oil "bedded" in........mine has Thumbs Up ______________________

And I thought CG was the fountain of all knowledge on this forum.

Good info Dave and exactly right. Mine has rectified itself after 3k.

Shame my dealership didn't advise me of this - Their answer to my query was "Better bring it back if your not happy"

I only asked Rolling Eyes FL2 TD4 XS Santorini
