Tyre pressures

I have now got 19" wheels on my wagon, courtesy of Evoque. Very Happy What
tyre pressure should I have, any idea?. I have read somewhere that
Evoque tyres are filled with nitrogen. Can anyone verify this.

We all have the tires filled with nitrogen.
Not 100% nitrogen, but at least 80% nitrogen for sure... Very Happy

As for the pressures, they are the same as on the FL2, 2.4 bars all around.
Only for 20" rims they are a little particular.

Finally, someone else who understands that this 'filing with nitrogen' fad is just a gimmick! Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

It all depends how 'anal' you are about such things ! Aircraft tyres are filled with N because N is more stable than air (80% ish N) accross the large temp range than aircraft tyres experience. Also, with N, there is less potential for wheel corrosion and, apparently, less loss of pressure issues. I guess than it is a bit like saying we should all go on a diet to lose weight in order to improve our FL2's fuel consumption !! FL2 HSE Auto Galway Green
Evoque SD4 Auto Blue.
FL1 HSE TD4 Manual Black - Gone.
RR Classic V8 EFI - Gone

I only use a special mix of gasses in my tyres:

78.084% Nitrogen
20.9476 Oxygen
0.934% Argon
0.0314% Carbon Dioxide
0.001818% Neon
0.0002% Methane
000524% Helium

Works fine for me. Thumbs Up

Nitrogen molecules are larger than the other gases, this makes them less susceptible to permeating the tyre leading to pressure loss, therefore up to 20% loss (ish) could be possible.
I use Unpolluted Lancashire air which is fine for me and think it is a damn cheek that tyre companies charge for Nitrogen, if you refuse they still use the same airline.

To all those people claiming it is necessary I hope you use pure deionised water in the washer bottle too Thumbs Up

There is a benefit using Nitrogen over air, but only if you're Censored lazy

It's hardly something 'major' to check/top up your tyres every few weeks with air Rolling Eyes

I fill my tyres with nitrous oxide(laughing gas), and if I have a slow puncture, it brings me out in hysterical laughter

Following first inflation, but after a few top ups you've pretty much eliminated the O2, if the principle behind the advocacy for using N is true.

If filling tyres with nitrogen do they evacuate all the oxygen out?

If tyres are permeable then oxygen will want to move through the concentration gradient and into the tyre.

All a load of codswollop.

Pedo does have a point re-aircraft, but not relevant to a car.

Boyles law still applies so you'll need to increase pressure in winter.
