well ive just fitted a new battery as past few days its been going flat in a few hrs of being left I put it down to a 10 year old battery ? Is this not the case ??? |

At 10 years your FL2 battery is likely to be kaput.

If your old battery has gone 10 years, it has done really well. A failing battery can throw all sorts of weird fault codes... Your DTCs could just be a symptom, rather than the cause of the defunt battery. If the new battery is holding charge & starting the car reliably, I would not worry too much about the DTC codes. Can you clear the codes? Do they come back after being cleared? |

TBH its only been a few hrs since fitted new battery and will feed back after 24hrs or so on battery status but I have checked with new battery fitted the DTCs are still showing ? not to sure if my reader can clear these, its says it clearing codes but when scanning again they are still there |

Have you cloned the battery to the car? Consider that you have real faults. Early cars seem to short out wiring along the left hand inner wing inside the loom, under the fuse box, also the fan controller burns out on left top of fan housing, that's a good current drain. Water in under-dash fusebox under the battery is common. If Mastermind had a FL2, he would never win. I now have four of the little darlings to keep me guessing. |

Good News - the car seems OK - that is the main thing. Fault codes not clearing - maybe they're permanent, or you need a more capable DTC reader? Has your reader cleared other DTC codes on the Freelander in the past? I think the generic P0380 code is likely to be one or more duff glow plugs - Glow plugs on the Freelander are the work of the devil - replacing them is a pig of a job by all accounts. A modern diesel with good compression shouldnt need working glow plugs during the summer months in the UK, so given that starting seems OK, I'd be tempted to just live with it for now. The downside is that things can only get worse & eventually all the plugs will be open circuit, it will be minus 5 outside and snowing & the car won't start... The P1259 immobiliser signal error is more nuanced. If it is keeping you awake at night, get a DTC code reader capable of supporting 7-digit codes to try and narrow the issue down - or take the car to an Auto Electrician & get them to look into it. Again with this code I would be tempted to ignore it if the car starts & runs reliably - you could spend a lot of money chasing a minor issue. |

I tend to agree. One thing to consider is door switch micro switches, one faulty one can play up the locking, as can the Bonnet micro-switch. |
