Sump guard

HI. Finally got a sump guard for my Freelander 2. It was missing and doing my OCD in. Went to fit it but there appears to be a piece missing, between front of sump guard and plastic bit that covers the front crossmember, leaving a gap of around an inch or two.

Would anyone know what goes in there? It is the oem steel sump guard.

I have this bit, unless something has broken off. Between it and the sum guard is the gap

Sorry for slow reply, but:

My understanding is that there are two different types of sump guard, which relate to the two different types of front sub-frame. The later design came in around 2012 with the face-lift that also coincidentally introduced the electric handbrake, and other evoque-like features.

I was in the same position as you having bought a second hand 2013 SD4 FL2 that didn't have a sump guard, and then bought one for £50 on ebay, only to find that it didn't fit.

My solution was a couple of strips of 40mm x 5mm mild steel as spacers between the bolt holes on the guard and the bolt holes in the sub frame.

Was thinking of doing that but the problem would be, I know its wrong lol. Got a good deal on a new guard so hopefully sell the other one to ease the pain.
