Fog lights not working

Hi All,

Noticed today that neither of my front fog lights are illuminating, although the green light on the dash shows when the fog light switch is 'on'. Any ideas? Thought it unlikely both bulbs will blow at the same time. Vehicle is 2010 GS model.

Many thanks,

Nick

I realise this is an old thread, but my “new” 59 plate GS has neither fog light working. Bulbs are good, fuse is good. I’ve tried with the headlights on various settings but no joy. Green light on dash is lit when front fogs switched on. Rear fogs work ok.

Any suggestions?

Thanks. If my understanding is correct, since the dash light is working, if it was a wiring fault it would need to be after the relay and before the common wire splits to left and right. That makes me wonder if it might be the relay itself.

The driver’s manual doesn’t give much of a clue to where the relay might be found and also warns against users changing them. Are there good reasons for this? On my previous car (Volvo) I replaced lighting relays that were soldered into the CEM board, so I would be reluctant to pay someone to do this, unless there were good technical reasons why it can’t be a DIY job.

Fog light relay is R130 and fuse FS13 in the passenger fuse box, there is a complete wiring diagram in the technical section which should help fault finding.

Thanks, Seagull. Apologies, being new here, I had overlooked the wiring diagramme “sticky”.

If I am understanding the many lighting threads and the wiring diagramme correctly, all the lights are enabled by the CEM software and there is a chance that either the fogs have been deliberately switched off or there is a software glitch? I was toying with the idea of visiting the local dealer to get the car switched to Scandinavian mode (don’t judge me - i’ve had many years of Saab and Volvo ownership!), so I might ask them to check the software settings.

Navyman, I never did get my front fogs to work! I had the car for six years and this one just never made it far enough up my priority list to sort. I'm pretty sure it was the relay, but I never took the time to locate the relay and swap it out for a known working one. I can't recall now whether both front and rears are on the same relay, but the wiring diagrams are available as a sticky so, in your shoes I would start by looking at these (assuming you have done the basics of checking bulbs and fuses). 2005 D3 2.7 Auto

will check fuses today and look at bulbs as well. and will report back my findings.
Never had them on, so don't know if ever worked (my fault for not checking when I got car).

checked fuse seems ok, (but put a new one in anyway). can't find the relay? where is it in relation to the fuse? will put a new one in if I can find it.

going to replace the light switch unit as well this week. direct from LR.
