Auto tilting mirror not working in reverse

Hey everyone, first post on the forum!

A couple weeks ago my passenger side door mirror got damaged, and today I've replaced the entire thing with a like-for-like mirror.

Everything is working - the puddle light underneath, the power fold, the electric adjustment, but for some reason the memory function for the tilt when going into reverse isn't working.

I set the mirror up for normal driving, saved it as memory setting 1, put the car in reverse and adjusted it for reversing and then saved it again with the car still in reverse.

When I put it back into drive, it just stays down as it was set up for reverse. I then tested it the opposite way round, setting it back up for normal driving again and putting it into reverse, and the mirror just doesn't move.

This only happens with the passenger side one that has just been fitted, the drivers' side is working as it always has.

Any ideas? Am I missing something?

Edit - it's a 2012 HSE auto obviously with memory seats. Before the old mirror got damaged the auto tilt memory function was working fine.

You seem to be doing what the Freelander Manual says

MIRROR DIP WHEN REVERSING
Selecting reverse gear will cause the door
mirrors to automatically adjust, providing an
improved viewing angle for reversing.
The exact dipped position can be adjusted
when the mirrors are dipped. The next time
reverse is selected, the newly adjusted position
will be selected.
When the gear selector is moved out of
reverse, the mirrors will return to their previous
position.
Note: If vehicle speed exceeds 7 km/h (4 mph)
in reverse, the mirrors will return to their
normal driving position for enhanced visibility

So it looks like something must have been damaged during replacement.

It may be worth trying the old battery disconnect trick then doing the procedure again it may or may not help but it’s easy to try it.

I did wonder that, yeah. But I don’t think anything could be damaged as all of the functionality other than the auto tilt works as it should!

I feel like if something was damaged, I wouldn’t be able to electrically adjust the mirrors but I can it just won’t save where they sit for reverse. Really strange.

When I had to get a replacement for mine there seemed to be a lot of variations and I had to be sure to get a mirror from a car that had memory seats...
