Trailer wiring

I have an 08 lr2 and I need to wire in trailer electrics (flat 4).

I'll start by saying that I know your supposed to get a module, and a discontinued harness (and therefore the euro spec harness and an adapter), BUT the nearest JLR dealer is 8 hours drive away, and getting a dealer to program the module is not an option, and not happening. Also really not fussed with the reversing beeper going off with the trailer attached.

So, with that out of the way... Is there any issue with either of the following options:

Option 1: using a powered 3 way to 2 way converter (such as this: https://a.co/d/bNG8fqF) to get the flat 4 to work? These usually just have a few diodes to allow the separate signal and brake lights to trigger the same circuit. Was planning on using t connectors from one of the tail lights and power from a fuse tap. My main concern with this option is some kind of feedback triggering the needlessly complicated electronics into error messages etc.

Option 2: using 4 relays powered from fuse taps with t connectors from the tail lights as the triggers

Open to any other suggestions which don't require a trip to a dealership (I've also already confirmed with several local shops that they do not use autologic scan tools - to the point that no one had even heard of them).

Many thanks

Ed
