For the past 18 years I have had the pleasure of working with one of the most easy going and helpful diesel fitters I have ever came across. Nothings a bother and always willing to assist.

So, today I asked him if he would do a wee oil change seeing the service light was on. 'No bother, bring her over' was the reply.

I heard him swear for the second time in 18 years. What was it? The oil filter lol. 'Who the f put that there'

That’s what I thought when I first saw the location of the oil filter on the SD4 / TD4……!
It’s quite easy if you have a 27 mm. swivel -angle ratcheting spanner……
Why they put the filter there I don’t know……making it awkward means that often it doesn’t get done.

im on my 4th freelander 2 now and the first thing I do is a major service including auto gearbox oil and diffs these are brilliant cars but things always get overlooked or just left, ive had my Dynamic MY13 for a few months now and have done full service both rear wheel bearings and about to rebuild the rear diff then it will be perfect and serve me well for many years, these are great cars and in my opinion very cheap for what you get just work through the jobs one at a time its all basic mechanicals and not rocket science and if you do it yourself you KNOW its done right
