Key Fobs not unlocking car

Hi all,

Neither of my fobs are unlocking my car. I can manually get in using the hidden key, and it’ll start the car up fine, but locking and unlocking isn’t working. Anyone had the issue or any ideas on where to start to resolve?

Cheers

Start by telling us which year and model as there are 2 different locking fobs.

Either way I suggest that you renew battery in one to see if it makes any difference.

A bit of service history, before/after it stopped locking, and whether all doors lock and unlock from internal dash buttons (etc).

Search returns these threads on locking problems.

Thanks for your reply. It’s a 2010 reg XS SD4. No service issues beforehand that suggest an issue. Internal locking usually the dash works fine, just seems to be when locking from the fob.

probably the fob needs a clean or battery the spare fob is probably flat due to lack of use ive had this problem and normally new battery's and a hard reset on the car sorts it out (hard reset involves disconnecting battery and touching terminals together to drain capacitors in various ecu's ) give this a try before you start digging deeper you might also have bad buttons on the fob take the fob apart and try it with just the circuit board in you hands pressing the little micro switches if this works just buy some new fob cases of eBay and then its job done Thumbs Up
