I have recently purchased a FL2 SE in good condition with 122346km on the clock, a town driven vehicle only...... I am easy on all my vehicles often getting way past 300k km on many of them.. Even on a Mahindra scorpio. Now I have the Freelander 2 and sorry I did not go this rout years back...... My first point is to replace all the liquids first..... And been told that 5w30 is the grade oil to use.... However, this is not the UK, it is not unusual to have 30c - 35c ambient temperatures regularly, this past December returning from a holiday trip we had 41c for 900km.... This in a Subaru XT auto. It did not fair well.....

If you are going to move from the recommended, use the 10w30.

I know little about the various specs, however from what I do know the bottom end (5W) is an indicator of the vescocity in the cold.... We do get cold mornings, my concern is the higher end during the day (30) so logic tells me I should look at perhaps a 40....so 10w40 or 5w40....but let me read what he says..... A mistake could be an expensive exercise. |

What does it specify in the owners handbook for your territory out of interest? 2013 FL2 XS.
