HELP ENGINE FAUL OUT 3.2 BENZINE

hello fellow owners ,

i have a freelander 2 with a petrol engine 3.2

have a problem which i can't trace, engine spontaneously cuts out while driving, just off, radio etc do keep working.

then you turn off the ignition, wait for 2 seconds, then start it, then everything works properly again.

i just can't find what would cause this now?????
it's just dangerous, because you never know when it will stop.

anyone got a suggestion?
is this a known problem?

thanks in advance for the response

Do you have an OBD Code Reader as the best way of discovering what is happening is to examine any error codes (if any).

Does it run perfectly before failing, or do you have any misfiring or stutter? FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 79k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

A relay that is failing will act like that.

Next to the Engine there is a fuse box and it has fuses and relays.

Look at R2

Based on your description I would suspect that the ignition coils lost power.

All six coils are powered by the same circuit.

In the past I did have a problem with the MAF and when the connector came loose because of a broken latch then the engine stopped abruptly. But it would not restart.

Can you talk to the engine computer using the ODB2 port when the engine stalls.

We need more information

Thanks

Paul

Good catch

I didn't see the additional information

Alex,

Swapping relays is a good first step.

If the signal from the MAP or MAF is suddenly lost then the engine will stop.

Also if the ECU has a bad power or ground connection.

The problem that you are having is not common.

You may need to have a mechanic look at it.

Good luck

Paul
