United Kingdom 2007 Freelander 2 i6 HSE Auto Sumatra Black
P0505 code. Rough running.

Typically my MOT is due and today whilst on my way to get some exhaust rubbers replaced, the Freelander started chugging as if it was down a cylinder. No smoke, no lights on dash.
I managed to get home - it did clear , but came back just as I approached my house, I have put my Icarsoft tool on it and it's throwing up the P0505 code.
I checked the interweb and it' says IDLE AIR CONTROL SYSTEM. However, there are several conflicting ideas on what this actually is in terms of what may need replacing. Everything from the MAF, the Fuel Pressure Sensor , the Idle Air Control Valve etc.
I did, however, disconnect both MAF sensor and FPS and when I plugged them back in and took it for a spin, there seemed to be no problem.
I had exactly the same symptoms a couple of years ago in the Censored down rain on the M5, but due to heavy, fast flowing traffic and a lack of anywhere to stop at that precise moment, I kept going for another couple of miles and it just cleared. That time there were no codes logged at all.
Any thoughts ?
