Gearbox: Punch / Jerk forward when lifting off the brake.

Hi All, I am sure that this Issue has been discussed before and I also think I have seen a post on here previously but I cant find it.
Anyway,

Freelander 2 Td4 HSe 2013 model. (automatic)

When idling at Lights or in traffic, I am experiencing what can only be described as a punch or a jerk forward when lifting off the foot brake. This seems to be more frequent in the hotter months.

I have read somewhere that in 2015 Landrover had a software fix for this problem. I contacted them recently to discuss this and after a good 50 minutes on hold was told that as this was "such a long time ago now " the software isn't available so they wouldn't be able to assist me.

Is anyone else experiencing this ? How have they dealt with it? and the software fix must still exist somewhere ( if it is a software issue) does anyone have any suggestions ? Perhaps of some Landrover specialists that may have the software fix still.....

Sorry for long post but its my first...

I get a similar thing from mine occasionally, but not when pulling away from a standstill. It happens every now and then when putting the power down at around 2000 rpm. There's a little jump or kick, like it's momentarily lost traction - but it hasn't because no TC light comes on.

When was the gearbox fluid changed? But I suspect, it hasn't been done. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

I get these sudden jerks very occasionally, over the decade (paid cash for the new car). Seems to happen a few times then goes away for 6 months or so.

Mostly coasting to the lights, but also sometimes on acceleration, & not from very recent previously "pushing" the car quickly because of some Fwit off from the set of lights, brilliant bit of kit in that respect.

Basically my conclusion it is a random event. Maybe something to to do with the glove box damper!

Just to clarify my car is a non fish & chip oil burner! Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

Im not surprised JLR main dealer cannot help. As far as they are concerned the FL2 is obsolete.

Id try an independent LR garage for advice.

Also changing the ATF is a good start. JLR says its "sealed for life" but that life can be quite short if you dont change the ATF (and other parts of the drive train). Jules

Thanks for the responses: @nodge68, ATF fluids all done. Yes I started there last year and had all that done, it was quite expensive, and took way too long but it was worth knowing that this was completed.

@Lightwater: Random event, Its annoying but it has been occurring regularly for the last few years, My observation are that it is in the hotter months, and when the engine is cooler it is less often.

Mine is very specifically from a standing start, and at its worst it was in a journey through London where the traffic is obviously heavier and there are many more stop start situations regularly due to the lights crossings etc.
Passengers on that trip even remarked that at first it felt like someone had bumped into us from behind.

I have spoken to a local LR specialist and he had no knowledge of this issue hence the shout out here.

The transmission ECM will automatically disengage the clutch pack when stationery to save fuel. It could be that you're feeling the clutch engage again as you release the brakes. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

We’ve had the same and again in summer months. Haven’t had it for about a year now. LR were not able to diagnose even after showing them how to repeat it.
